Location description from owner

The Somerset region

With its lovely beaches beautiful countryside and fascinating history, dating back to the times of the Ancient Britons, Somerset makes a wonderful cottage holiday destination. And the best way to experience the county’s many attractions is from your base in one of our holiday cottages in Somerset. Bath has some of Britain’s most majestic Georgian architecture, as well as the famous Roman Baths (not mention great shopping).

Cheddar

Cheddar Gorge is truly stunning. Great for real Cheddar cheese too! Then there’s Wells, England’s smallest city. Wandering around the cathedral close, with its unspoilt medieval lanes is like taking a step back in time. And for a real sense of mystery, there’s Glastonbury (home of the world-famous music festival), supposedly the site of King Arthur’s mythical Avalon.

The Grand Pier at Weston-Super-Mare is superb, as is the wide beach here, while Minehead and Burnham-on-Sea offer a choice of traditional seaside pleasures. Meanwhile, for nature lovers there’s the wild landscape of Exmoor, and the Mendip and Quantock Hills, both Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

“A destination to return to”

Reviewed 13 Oct 2015

Having found The Orchard such an ideal destination last year we returned again to this lovely, spacious bungalow and were not disappointed. We revised some of our favourite places,Wells, The Gorge, Tyntesfeild, Barrington Court, but also found many new places, notably The Fleet Arm Museum and the unspoilt village of Lacock. The warm welcome we received from Mr. & Mrs. Roberts and the many fascinating places we would still like to visit in this beautiful county will bring us back again

“A wonderful stay in a beautiful holiday home”

Reviewed 11 Jul 2013

This holiday home is set in the picturesque village of Cheddar with all the local amenities you would expect to find. The bungalow is immaculately clean and well looked after by very friendly landlords who are there if you need them but discreet enough for you to enjoy your stay and make yourself at home.
