West Country

There are numerous local Regattas during the summer months, namely Fowey Regatta in August which showcases the Red Arrows and Pasty eating contests and other such Cornish traditions. Charlestown also hosts a Regatta of its own, usually in July showcasing local music in the park and in the harbour. There is also plenty to do during the Autumn/Winter months with many a Cornish produce market (especially good is the Truro market). The Eden Project also holds a Victorian Christmas fair and ice-skating rink between November and February.

“Large, well-appointed house”

Reviewed 28 Oct 2012

Dolphin Rock is a very large, detached property situated on the edge of St Austell. It looks like the former showhouse for the estate, with an extremely high standard of decor throughout and very well equipped kitchen. The only downside to the property is that there is only one shower in the whole house, which with 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms is just not enough. I guess this is a hangover from its showhome days, with a little more style over substance and this could (and really should) be easily rectified. With a good garden area, off-road parking for 2 cars and plenty of space inside, the house is very comfortable and the residents only beach (about 10 minutes walk away) is a little gem. Get a couple more showers plumbed in (even the handset on the taps type would help!), this property would easily be 5 stars.

Dolphin Rock now offers 2 showers since we aim at pleasing our guests! Hopefully this improvement will mean that guests enjoy a perfect stay at Dolphin Rock.
