Description

Chalet Marmotte is a beautiful alpine chalet in a fabulous position in the village built with chunky walls and rustic beams from a local 17th century farm. It feels cosy and welcoming when you walk in, with its honey coloured wood and warm décor plus the delicious smell of home cooked food and baking coming from the kitchen.
The rooms are spacious, most with en-suite showers while others have balconies with fantastic views overlooking open snow covered meadows, the beautiful old church and across in the distance to the twinkling lights of Courchevel. There is a large living and dining room where there is plenty of space for guests to socialize in smaller groups, or together, chatting, drinking, playing games, listening to music and watching TV. It is more home-from-home than chalet style hotel and the excellent food that we serve is delicious and plentiful and reflects our personal enthusiasm for food and cooking. You can't beat the smell of freshly baked cakes and a crackling

It is more home-from-home than chalet style hotel and the excellent food that we serve is delicious and plentiful and reflects our personal enthusiasm for food and cooking. You can't beat the smell of freshly baked cakes and a crackling log fire to welcome you in from the cold. We can guarantee you won't want to leave at the end of the week!

After all the food and exercise, you can relax aching muscles in the sauna or hot tub, and for the more energetic, you can go for a swim in the fabulous swimming pool and have a game of table tennis or pool in the games room next door - also a good place to send any over excitable kids!

In the morning the cable car and pistes are just a 5 minute walk and at the end of the day's skiing you can leave your equipment in our ski store in Centre Sports right at the foot of the lift. You can then wander back to the chalet in your normal shoes, browse through the village shops or pop into a bar at your leisure. As everything in the village is just a short walk, no cars are needed in resort.

The Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region

The Paradiski ski area covers 18 resorts with 425km of endless, finely groomed pistes catering for all abilities in one of the biggest interlinked ski areas in Europe. There are 132 blue pistes which means that even novice skiers and boarders can travel vast distances around the whole area. That said, Champagny and La Plagne have the majority of the blue runs as well as a huge variety of skiing in general so for many people there is no real need to go across to Les Arcs. However, for good skiers who wish to venture even further afield Les Arcs is not too far away and worth at least one day trip from Champagny.

A short drive out of the village going further into the mountains brings you up to the small hamlet of Champagny L'Haut at the gateway to the Vanoise National Park. It is usually quite a bit colder here but very snowy and beautiful. There is a professionally run ice climbing tower, the only one of its kind in Europe, organised snow shoe walks and numerous ski de fond trails, it is also a fantastic place to take your kids sledging.

Champagny-en-Vanoise

Champagny is an authentic mountain village with a character that still reflects its early farming origins. A beautiful picturesque resort with lively après ski, where traditional Savoie life and modern tourism mesh seamlessly together. Champagny is a refreshingly non-commercialized part of the huge interlinked ski area that includes Champagny, La Plagne & Les Arcs - over 420km of pistes aptly known as Paradiski.

Champagny is an excellent ski area in its own right as well as being part of the huge ski area now known as Paradiski. It has a modern cable car that whisks skiers to over 2000m in just 8 minutes. Here, there are two nursery slopes and a restaurant so you can watch your kids in ski school whilst you grab a coffee or a bite to eat.

Champagny is very conveniently located to take advantage of the huge interlinked Paradiski area, just 2 lifts or approximately 20 minutes from the heart of La Plagne. The lift companies have assured the link to La Plagne is always possible right through the season by positioning snow canons on the crucial linking runs, Les Borseliers and Le Bozelet.
There is a modern 6 man chair lift that takes you to three brilliant blue runs in the middle of the resort; La Rossa, Le Sérac and Les Crépines. These are perfect for beginners to progress onto as they are long and wide, so you get a nice long ski before you have to get on the lift again. Alongside these runs there is a board park and plenty of easy off piste, as well as the steeper more difficult 'Dentiste' off piste run which is great in fresh powder.
In the village square, there are a variety of Cafes, Pizzerias and Crêperies where you can enjoy the sunshine on the centre terrace by the mountain stream, especially warm later in the season.'La Timbale' iswhere you'll find DJ's, live bands every Wednesday and plenty of dancing going on well into the night. It also has a sunny terrace for après ski beers, a pool table and table football.
