The Occitanie region

Languedoc-Roussillon is famous for its warm, sunny climate and its mix of sandy beaches, stunning gorges and majestic mountains. This magical land - covered with acre after acre of vineyards & caves and studded with ancient Cathar fortresses, hilltop medieval villages, historic chateaus and churches - offers visitors an almost limitless range of activities for young and old alike. There is hiking, climbing, cycling, horseback riding, windsurfing or rafting for the atheletically inclined to calmer pursuits such as antique hunting, market browsing, wine tours, museum visits, river & lake fishing, picnicing or sunbathing on a sundrenched beach for those just looking to relax in a stress-free environment. However you choose to spend your time in the Midi, you will surely leave with unforgettable memories and a yearning to return.

Cesseras

In the immediate vicinity are the world-famous, tree-lined Canal du Midi, the medieval Cathar stronghold village of Minerve and Lac Joarres for boating, windsurfing and freshwater swimming and the market town of Olonzac, seat of Le Minervois . . . all within a 5-10 drive from your apartment at Chateau Marcel.
