Now it's really spacious, and we've uncovered and restored old oak beams and a lovely tiled floor. The fixtures and fittings are contemporary, keeping with the French love of combining old and new. The bed and linens are really comfy, and there are plush towels, including beach towels. The kitchen is really well-equipped, by an owner who loves to cook and knows how fun it is to shop the local market and little shops and prepare meals at home...on occasion, of course! The studio is close to everything - it's really in the centre of the town - so you have a tremendous choice of local shops, bars and restaurants.

Location description from owner

The Languedoc-Roussillon region

Languedoc-Roussillon, in south-west France curves around a corner of the Mediterranean, from Provence in the east down to the borders with Spain and Andorra in the south. The modern region was formed when two historic provinces were merged. Languedoc takes its name from langue d'oc, a language closely linked to Catalan, and Roussillon in the far south was known as France's Catalonia, but today Catalonia is confined to an autonomous region in north-eastern Spain.

Ceret

Céret, a historic Catalan small town, has about 320 sunny days a year and provides a lively calendar of musical and artistic events and a terrific Saturday market. Plane trees shade the streets circling the ancient church; many bars and restaurants offer open air dining. Picasso founded Céret’s prestigious modern art museum; collections include his work along with those by Matisse and Chagall. Local walks pass cork oaks, olive trees, cherry orchards and grapevines, offering breathtaking views of Pic de Canigou. “Lovely to return to neat apartment in beautiful Ceret”

Reviewed 20 Jan 2013

We spent part of our honeymoon in this apartment in the summer & couldn't wait to come back. A few days over the Christmas holidays made for a really lovely break. The apartment is neat, well equipped and has everything we needed & definitly still comes recommended as a great base from which to explore Ceret and the surrounds.

“A great apartment in a lively town”

An excellent well-equipped apartment, in a perfect location. When you leave the front door, the town with its bars and restaurants is 2 minutes away, or you can head into the hills on a way-marked footpath

“A sunny honeymoon in a perfect apartment in a wonderful town”

Reviewed 6 Sep 2012

The studio apartment we rented for the second part of our honeymoon was a really good base for us to relax in whilst exploring Ceret & surrounds. Small but perfectly formed, it generally had everything we could have needed. Lovely and light and an amazing view up the hill whilst lying in bed. Impressed to have sharp knives in the kitchen!! We arrived early on the Saturday morning in time to catch Ceret's market, which was excellent. We walked up to the waterfall in the mountains which was a great little secret to be let in on as it was pretty hot when we were there! Thank you for a wonderful stay!!

How lovely that you chose to spend some of your honeymoon with us. The view from the bed is terrific...a good reason to stay cuddled up, but equally a temptation to jump up and get out into those hills, don't you think? Hope you did both in equal measure, and that you'll be back to see us the next time you have something to celebrate!

“Wonderful apartment in a charming cultural centre nestled among beautiful mountains.”

Reviewed 5 Sep 2012

We stayed for a week in August. The weather was perfect, the town charming and the apartment perfect. The apartment is thoughtfully and charmingly fitted out, from the big shower to the kitchen evidently equipped by a cook - not that we used it much, often choosing instead to go to one of the many restaurants nearby. We particularly enjoyed the beautiful views of the mountains from the bed. We had a couple of fantastic hikes straight out of the apartment and up into the mountains and we spent wonderful time snorkeling on the beaches (not too far away by car or bus) and swimming in the river at Arles sur Tech. The Saturday market was unmissable and we felt happy at the thought of many more trips to Ceret in the future.

“Perfection!”

Reviewed 24 May 2012

I had the perfect holiday in Ceret and it was due in a very large part to this flat and to the attentive care of its owner. The flat is perfectly located within walking distance of everything - shops, cafes, bistros, museums, galleries, food, pubs, post office, hiking trails, hiking trails, and hiking trails - you get the idea, Ceret is fantastic!! But it's also located across from a lovely field that looks up into the hills - stunning!! So, after all the walking in town and hiking out of town, it was a pleasure to come back to this pretty and very comfortable flat that felt like home from the minute I arrived. I love to feel like a local when I travel, but I also like the comforts of home. This flat provided both. There is plenty of storage, which is nice in a studio, so I could put my stuff away. The kitchen was very well appointed, stylish, and with a dishwasher! Amply stocked with utensils and supplies for cooking in, and comfortable seating for just enjoying a glass of wine with the beautiful view. The bed was extremely comfy (nice linens too) with good light for reading. The bathroom was spotless. I felt very pampered and can't wait to come back!!

Thank you so much for your glowing report. We very much had it in mind, in renovating and kitting out the flat, to think of those things which make us feel at home and comfortable, so it's gratifying that it seemed to make the right impression on you! Like you, we're walkers, so we love the combination of town delights and country splendour that Céret has to offer. Thanks again...we look forward to welcoming you on your next visit!

“Sublime Ceret in sunny September”

Reviewed 11 May 2012

I was number 3260 for the 28eme Rond Ceretane 2011 Randonee. After, participants celebrated with lunch, wine, music and entertainment. During, my wife, Daphne, painted a view from the window of the apartment which briefly catches part of the Randonee course. Her picture may well grace your room. Don't worry if it doesn't as there's lots more to enjoy in this marvellous town. You won't be disappointed with the accommodation, the location, the ambiance - et tous ca. C'est magnifique!

We're so pleased you had a "visite magnifique," and well done for participating in one of Céret's most wonderful events. We love the painting - such a kind gift - and hope you'll be back to paint another soon!
