Le Rougegorge is one of 3 lovely cottages within an old farm courtyard. Perfect for families or couples/small groups who are looking for a relaxing retreat in the beautiful Loire Valley.

The accommodation includes: 3 bedrooms (one with superking size bed, one triple with bunks and a single, and one double/twin), a bathroom with WC, a large living/dining room, a well equipped kitchen, wood-burning stove, private garden with garden furniture and parasol, and a barbecue. Cots, bed linen and towels are provided.

Other facilities on-site include a Carp fishing lake (for the exclusive use of guests at no extra charge); a fenced, heated swimming pool; bicycles for exploring (and getting the essential bread and croissants from the boulangerie every morning!); a full size badminton hall/activities hall; table tennis; boules; an outdoor volleyball court; soccer pitch; and a children's playground with 14 foot trampoline, play tower, swings, etc. For those who like to keep fit, we also have a small fitness suite to keep those bodies' toned!

The Loire valley is renowned for its historic Chateaux, one of the most famous being Chenonceau just 12 kms away. The medieval Chateau de Montpoupon is only a 15 minute walk away, with its museum of hunting and ancient kitchens. Loches, Amboise (with its wonderful Sunday market) and Blois are all within an easy car drive. Probably the best zoo in France, Zoo Parc Beauval at St Aignan, is an easy 15 minute drive away. There are some excellent golf courses within an hours drive. Other activities available in the local area include horse riding, tennis, jet-skiing, paintballing and canoeing. The area abounds with vineyards and wine producers many of whom offer tastings and sell direct to the public.

The local area produces some excellent cabernet and gamay red wines whilst the town of Montrichard is well known for its production of red and sparkling white wines. The world reknowned Appelation Controlé of Vouvray is within a 30 minute drive. Montrichard offers “beach” facilities on the River Cher with a children's playground, public tennis courts and boating. Montrichard and most other local towns have indoor and outdoor swimming pools and at least one, and often two, market days.

The countryside is gently rolling making it very interesting for touring especially, in our opinion, by bicycle where the quiet roads and villages can be explored and as you would expect you will find a wide variety of cafes and restaurants.

Due to the top bunk bed only being suitable for children (up to 14 years old), we can only accept a maximum of 6 adults.
Babies ARE included in the maximum number of 7 people.
Due to parking limitations we can only accommodate a maximum of 2 cars.
We do not accept bookings for single-sex groups or persons under 21 years of age.
There is a local “tax de sejour” of (currently) 55 cents per adult (over 18) per night, payable on arrival.

“Excellent family holiday”

We enjoyed an amazingly relaxing holiday in our cottage in Razay - so much so in fact we booked our 2017 holiday before we left!! Kids had a great time giving a double thumbs up. Super location, super facilities, super hosts=happy little family.

This was our second visit to Razay and we were all really looking forward to our trip after the previous years fabulous holiday and we weren't disappointed! The cottage was beautifully presented as always and we were welcomed back like old friends. The facilities are great and really enable you to relax and enjoy your time away. The children love the pool, badminton court, trampoline and the freedom the grounds give. Razay is close enough to many Chateaux and towns to give you plenty of things to do but removed enough to give you time to relax in peace and quiet.

We first came to Razay about 6 years ago and it was superb then. We have just had another week at the end of August to celebrate Ian's 60th with family and friends and then a week by ourselves. Both were perfect and made even better by Simon and Jilly's enthusiasm for all their guests to have a great time. Don't need to ask - we are already booked for 2017!

I came to Razay with my young family in July 2014 and had the most wonderful time. I must say it's one of the best holidays we've ever been on, and with a young family it's hard to please everyone but Razay definitely does deliver that. Razay is really a gem, relaxing surroundings, clean and very comfortable accommodation with all you need to hand and with plenty to do. We spent most of the week in and out of the swimming pool and the adults were able to relax in the sunshine on the lounge chairs reading a book and the children amused themselves with table tennis, riding the bikes, playing for hours on the brilliant playground area and generally having a blast - we went on lots of nice walks in the countryside as a family and eating alfresco with a glass of wine was a treat too as the weather was just beautiful! There is plenty of outdoor space for the older children to explore which was a bonus and we managed to catch the odd fish or two fishing the lake during our week stay too! We also went to the Zoo about a 20 minute drive away and we had the best day so even though there was no reason to leave Razay there is also plenty to do in the local area which suited us too. Jilly and Simon were very welcoming and and helpful and by the end of the first day it feels like a home from home. We hope to return this summer and the children are already talking about what we will get up to and us adults can't wait to take some time out to relax and enjoy all Razay has to offer again.

If Simon (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
