Though the house is less than five minutes' walk from the city centre, it has the feel of a country cottage. The front door leads directly into the living room which is bright and comfortable with a wood-burning stove, two sofas and a dining table. There is also a flat screen television (freeview) and free internet connection. This leads to a well-equipped kitchen and then to a small utility area with washing machine. Beyond this is a newly-fitted bathroom and access to an attractive patio area with pots of flowers, metal table, chairs and bench.

Quite steep stairs (not suitable, I'm afraid, for people with mobility problems) lead to the first and second storeys. On the first floor are two double bedrooms, one of which is a generous size and has the original fireplace. The second flight of stairs leads to the beamed attic bedroom which runs the depth of the house. York Minster can be seen from one of the windows. Off it is an ensuite room comprising a toilet, sink and shower.

The house is situated in a quiet cul-de-sac and there is free parking (with permits which we lend). It is an ideal base for those who like to be close to the city centre and within easy walking distance of its attractions, who appreciate traditional buildings and who enjoy a house which is quirky, comfortable and also set at a realistic price. There is a 10% reduction for a single couple occupancy for weekends and full weeks.
