“superb apartment”

Reviewed 27 Dec 2015

We have stayed in york many times using hotels and rented apartments. 4 talbot court is one of the best apartment we have stayed in. The personal touches that steven and christine provide such as the chocolates and wine on arrival were first class and very much appreciated. When we return to york in 2016 we will hopefully be staying at 4 talbot court.

Thank you for your generous comments. We're delighted that you appreciated the little personal touches and enjoyed your stay in 4 Talbot Court over Christmas. Best wishes from Stephen & Christine

“A silent haven in the middle of the Christmas bustle!”

Reviewed 9 Dec 2015

We planned a 3 night stay to see the Christmas markets and do some shopping, this was sadly cut short by one night due to the North West floods and having to go home early. However on the two nights we had, we found the apartment a quiet haven in the middle of the city where the Christmas shoppers were out in force on Saturday! We arrived on Friday and chose to check out the markets that night after eating out. The markets were quiet and we were able to see everything - brilliant! The apartment is extremely well appointed and everything has been well thought out. Stephen and Christine are great hosts and the furnishings clearly have a woman's touch with little extras such as make-up wipes and toiletries. Its a lovely place to stay and very central, once out of the grounds and through the gated courtyard you are straight out into a shoppers paradise with everything within walking distance. Car parking is easy, secure and a 5 minute walk to the apartment. We liked it that much we have already booked again for next year!

Thank you for your generous review. We're so pleased that you enjoyed your visit to York & had a comfortable stay in our apartment. We're delighted that you liked it so much that you've since decided to book again for another visit later this month & for the Christmas Markets again next year. We look forward to you seeing you again very soon.Best wishes from Stephen & Christine"

“Another Brlliant Stay in my home from home”

Reviewed 11 Aug 2015

I first stayed in 4 Talbot Court in May 2014 when I was on leave from my job in the Middle East and needed a quiet convenient place in the Centre of York ( my hometown) with excellent WiFi. Talbot Court was perfect for this and so this year it was the obvious choice and I extended my stay to 4 weeks. The stay was easily arranged by email with Stephen. He is very organised and replies quickly. The welcome was warm as ever with fridge stocked with a few essentials like wine and chocolates as well as breakfast goodies. The apartment is well equipped with all modern conveniences and tastefully decorated. Not being a tourist, the best points for me are a strong and reliable WiFi signal, quiet at night (York can be rowdy), clean and good security. This apartment is all of that and more. The apartment opens onto a carpeted internal landing on the first floor with a lift (elevator) down for those with dodgy knees or heavy luggage. The main door then opens on to a courtyard with views of the Minster, a well kept rose garden and lawn. This is a peaceful oasis away from the throng that lies just outside the electronic gate that leads you directly onto Petergate, a bustling thoroughfare of ancient and York, full of life. The location is excellent and within easy walking distance of pretty much all the city within the walls so no car is needed. It is also within walking distance of the rail station. One change from last year is York City Council have now stopped taxis from entering Low Petergate after 10am, so if you arrive after then you'll need your luggage on wheels or get the taxi to go all the way round to Goodram gate and walk the few meters from the crossing with Low Petergate. For anyone just planning to stay within the Walls of the City no car is needed however if you wish to travel out for a day by car an easy option is the car hire from the train station. The City Council are turning the centre into a no-car zone but Public transport is well organised and often the better option. I travel back to York every summer and Talbot Court has become my home from home. This year I'll be back in December and have already booked Talbot Court for my stay. I highly recommend it to anyone wishing a friendly convenient place to stay in the heart of the city with the privacy not always afforded by hotels.

Thank you for your fabulous review ! We're delighted that you continue to like our apartment and that you & your husband had a comfortable stay. We're so pleased that you have booked another visit in December and look forward to seeing you (both) very soon. Best Wishes from Stephen & Christine

“Wish we could have stayed longer”

Reviewed 14 Jul 2015

Great location, fabulous apartment excellently appointed, delightful gardens, wonderful owner. I booked #2 and #4 Talbot Court for my parents (in their 80's) and myself fro a week. I travel extensively for work (as in 35 weeks a year in hotels) and can honestly say this was like home away from home. I will definitely go back. It was great for older folks too.

Thank you for your generous comments. We're delighted that you enjoyed your stay in our 'home from home ' apartment. We're so pleased that you and you parents had a memorable holiday in York. We hope that you will choose to stay with us again on your next visit to the UK and look forward to seeing you again.Best Wishes from Stephen, Christine & Alexandra

Would love to return for another relaxing weekend in the near future.

“Excellent - the place to stay if you are coming to York! Better than a B&B!”

Reviewed 19 Apr 2015

We had a fab stay here. Stephen and Christine go out of their way to make you feel at home, and the apartment has everything you could need and more. The location is FANTASTIC - you can walk here from the train station, and can walk to all the sites very easily. It is effectively a B&B if you are stay for a couple of nights, because a continental breakfast / cereals / milk are all provided free. We will be back! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Many thanks for your kind review. We're so pleased that you enjoyed your stay & appreciated the breakfast ingredients we left for you. We're delighted to hear that you intend to return and look forward to seeing you again soon. Best wishes from Stephen & Christine

“BEST EVER IN CENTRAL YORK”

Reviewed 31 Mar 2015

Before we arrived we received an excellent information pack and maps from Stephen and Christine which were very useful. The apartment was easy to find from the station with a short walk.We were given a warm welcome from Stephen and Christine who were there to meet and greet. They are a very genuine and friendly couple who you can tell are passionate about taking care of the apartment and there customers, they really do give 110%.Every creature comfort was there and we didn't need to do a domestic shop in the 3 days we were there and believe me that is a dream when your away, and does not always happen when you stay in other holiday apartments.A continental breakfast was supplied by Christine for our first morning and a 20% voucher for the excellent georginas café just a hop over the road for breakfast or lunch. The Apartment was pristine with an excellent bathroom with plenty of hot water,a lovely kitchen and breakfast area and a beautifully bright lounge with windows looking out on to York minsters grounds, the bedroom was lovely and bright with plenty of storage and we found the room to be very quiet and slept soundly.Being a Carpenter I can tell the quality and finish of the building is first class and they work hard to keep it so. Either lift or stairs take you down to a courtyard and a secure electronically controlled gate which lead you out into petergate one of the busiest little streets in the city and from here you can follow the maze of alleys and cobbled streets that make up York.We found the location could not have been any better if we had tried and on our evenings out found it perfect to stroll back to.We found la Rustique French restaurant to be our favourite with top class food but with a great atmosphere and not too pretentious,Blue bicycle was good as was Little Italy. This was our first visit to York but enjoyed it so much I think we will probably be returning,we spent a lot of time looking and researching which property to stay at and am positive that we picked the right one.Im sure that if you book Talbot Court like us you will definetly not be disappointed. Thanks go to Stephen and Christine you made our weekend away very special and your hard work really does shine through.

Thank you for your generous review - it's one of the best we've ever had! We're so pleased that you liked our apartment and enjoyed your stay in York. We're delighted that you appreciated the little personal touches and that it was a birthday treat to remember. We hope you'll visit us again soon. Best wishes from Stephen & Christine

“A weekend to remember”

Reviewed 28 Feb 2015

Steve was there on our arrival to 'meet and greet' us and guide us through all the apartments facilities and what York itself has to offer. An excellent apartment situated in the heart of the city, yet in a quiet and secure location. The apartment itself is colourfully furnished to a very high standard. Steve and Chris have thought of everything including a lovely 'welcome' pack and fluffy dressing gown and slippers. We were made to feel so welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely recommend this apartment.
