Description from owner

Description

A period 3 bed house with a host of original features and furnished to a high standard with many antique pieces.

St John Street is less than a five minute walk into town with all it's bars, restaurants and attractions, yet in a peaceful, location. So close to the center you can see York Minster at the end of the street.

The house benefits from three good size bedrooms, one very spacious with a king size bed, one good double and a single room. The elegant, high ceilings and tall windows make the house bright and airy but with an ambience of times gone by and a warm, cosy atmosphere. Recently renovated and furnished with many antique pieces the house has a period charm all of its own but without compromising on modern day comforts.

A completely private, walled patio at the rear has a table and chairs for alfresco dining or cocktails before strolling into town to sample one of the many excellent restaurants.

A beautiful house in a fantastic location.

Location description from owner

The Yorkshire region

Yorkshire boasts over 800 attractions, from World Heritage Sites to mining museums, ruined castles and abbeys, to hands on museums and some beautiful coastal sites.

You'll find serene gardens and unique breweries, thrilling rides and industrial heritage. From attractions and museums to sports and galleries, from the history-lover to the inquisitive child, there's something for everyone.

Central York

Renowned for its exquisite architecture, Gothic cathedral and tangle of quaint cobbled streets, historic York is the setting for a perfect romantic retreat. But as old meets new, the city also has many surprises in store as vibrant cafés, colourful street entertainers and boutique shopping lie waiting to be discovered.

Some of the most popular attractions are the minster, Clifford's Tower, Jorvik viking centre, York dungeons, several very good museums and our favourite, the railway museum.

“THE place to stay in York”

Warm greeting from Liz who provided a most welcomed refreshment tray. Superb central location, spacious house, beautifully decorated furnished and spotlessly clean. 12 mins walk from station, 4 mins from big supermarket so no need to have a car.

thank you.

“Excellent Property”

Reviewed 2 Nov 2012

My wife and I stayed at this accommodation for a long weekend in October and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves .The property is well appointed and is furnished in sympathy with the period of the house.Accessing the property was simple and straightforward. Location wise you really cannot ask for more -The walk up St John's Street gives the first view of the Minster and it is literally only a few minutes walk until you pass through the Goodramgate into the City and all it has to offer . We would highly recommend this property.

thank you

“Excellent Experience”

Reviewed 2 Oct 2012

This accomodation comes highly recommended. We received a very warm welcome with tea and cakes! The accomodation has recently been reurbished and it is very comfortable indeed. The house is spacious, has lovely furniture in keeping with the period and many antiques and paintings. It is more stylish than the average property for rent. Beds are very comfortable, linen of good quality, good shower and well equipped kitchen. it even has a small courtyard garden. Great to have free access to WIFI. It is well situated for the city cente, easy walking distance and pleasant route. We would definatley stay here again.

Thank you, I hope we will see you again.

“Beautiful, cosy house a couple of minutes from the City walls”

Reviewed 29 Sep 2012

Great location.....beautifully renovated house with everything you need. Liz was welcoming and friendly. This house would be suitable for anyone, it's so close to the city centre, comfortable and so well equipped. We loved it !

Thank you. I love it too!

“Beautiful Home, Great Location”

Reviewed 20 Aug 2012

We spent a long weekend here to explore the lovely city York. Every aspect of our stay was a pleasure!!! The owners made booking the home amazingly easy. They even left us muffins, juice and milk for tea since we would be arriving later than usual. The house is really lovely. It is beautifully decorated, immaculately clean, and in a perfect location. We parked our car Friday evening outside the front door and didn't move it until we left York on Monday. The pictures really don't do the place justice. From the moment we walked in the door we felt comfortable and welcome. The only downside to our stay was that it wasn't long enough. There are 3 bedrooms, two doubles and a single. All are a good size and nicely furnished. The kitchen is clean and well equipped. The bathroom is beautiful. The lounge and dining room are large and comfortable. Wi-fi worked perfectly. There are quite a few stairs so it might not be suitable for people with mobility issues or small children for whom stairs are problematic. The house is just outside the city walls of York. All the attractions are within easy walking distance. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely stay here again.

Thank you for your lovely comments
