“Everything you want for a short get-away.”

Reviewed 26 May 2017

We were delighted to find this lovely little cottage near to the attractions of the centre of Whitby. The 29 steps to the front door were slightly challenging but we are sure made us fitter for the effort! The interior was clean and tastefully furnished and offered us everything we needed. We even learnt how to use the Sky box.

Owner's reply: Dear Anne --- Many thanks for your review , Kind regards Kaaren

“Cosy Cottage”

Reviewed 10 May 2017

Situated in close walking distance of all amenities, yet in a quiet back street. This cottage will appeal to those wanting a quiet and peaceful stay or those wanting to go on the town. The Cottage itself is well maintained, clean and warm, The only sound is the Gulls. We will be recommending it to our friends. Thank you Kaaren. 10/10. Steve & Gina Ward

Owner's reply: Oh thank you both very much! Sorry the weather wasn't brilliant --but good to have you stay again. Best regards Kaaren

“Ideal location, superb cottage”

Reviewed 4 Aug 2013

The cottage was comfortable, very clean and in an ideal location. Surrounded by great restaurants and excellent bakeries. Car park is close by and only cost £5 for 24 hours. Kaaren is very helpful, friendly and willing to share her local knowledge. A great weekend. :)

Owner's reply: Happy you enjoyed your stay, thank you for your comments, and glad you were comfy! Cheers Kaaren

“A little piece of heaven in Whitby!”

Reviewed 2 Aug 2013

The cottage is fantastic - nice and cosy and just perfect for a couple wanting to get away from it all near the sea. Both me and my girlfriend liked it straight away and couldn't wait to get inside and have a look around. It has everything you could need with a well equipped kitchen, cosy lounge and lovely bedroom and bathroom upstairs. Plus, as a bonus, looking out of the skylight you look straight across at Whitby Abbey! Kaaren (the owner) was very welcoming and made sure that we had everything we needed and even left us milk and biscuits for us when we arrived! Obviously it takes some finding as it isn't obvious where the cottage is, but helpful instructions are provided and the seclusion adds to the 'getting away from it all' feeling. One thing you may want to bear in mind is that the seagulls are quite vocal in Whitby - but that isn't really anything you can do about!

Owner's reply: Thank you very much Howard! Glad you both had a good rest--- and relaxed! The Seagull babies have 'flitted' now -- left the roof, for flying lessons. Kind Regards, Kaaren

“Lovely hide-away close to the town and beach, highly recommended”

Reviewed 21 Jul 2013

Stayed here for a sunny weekend in July, on our first visit to Whitby. Kaaren's information and welcome card were great and the milk, bread and biscuits were really thoughtful. The cottage was just as shown, entered up a few steps and into a small yard so quiet and hidden away but yet only a 2 minute walk into the town. A lovely location. Clean and tidy with all the equipment you might need and lots of homely touches too, it really was a home from home. Parking on the nearby streets was free which really surprised us, although finding a space was tricky - best to wait until the day visitors have gone and park up in the evening. Whitby is a lovely town and we so enjoyed exploring and will definitely be back to stay here on a future visit.

Owner's reply: So glad you enjoyed your stay and were comfy. Thanks for review! Kaaren

We stayed at this cottage for 3 nights (a weekend break) at the end of October. It was absolutely perfect from arriving and experiencing the quaint and quirky entrance to discovering a welcome card, cakes and bread left fresh for us from the owner. It is so comfortable, including the bed and very clean, the owner has thought of everything you may just need and we couldn't have been happier. Also the location is perfect whether you want to go walking or just wander throughout Whitby. We will be back to Whitby, who wouldn't?? When we do we will be booking into Bolt Hole Cottage again. Thanks so much Kaaren your cottage made our stay extra special.

Owner's reply: Hey what a kind review---! thankyou SO much for being bothered to do it . A thanks means the world, and here was I feeling all "end of seasonish and scrabbled!!" Glad you were comfy, and had a good rest. Cheers Kaaren
