Amazing Luxury 17th Century Detached Cottage Built in 1660 refurbished to a very high standard, redecorated again for 2018 Season.

NO ADDITIONAL COMMISSION CHARGES, Gulls Cry would qualify for a Certificate of Excellence but as I pre-pay to avoid guests paying commission we are not allowed to qualify for the Certificate.

Set in a quiet Private Court Yard with Cosy Summer House containing Rattan Furniture, open April to October, BBQ & Seating area for your relaxation, yet only a 2 min' walk to the Bustling Harbour Side.

Parking Permit supplied, GCH / SKY Entertainments Package on Large LED TV in Lounge Freeview TV in all Bedrooms, Sound Bar with Sub Woofer in lounge. Cosy log burning Stove Set in Antique Oak Surround, Free WiFi throughout Cottage.

Gulls Cry Cottage is only 2 minutes walk from the Harbour Side Wine Bars, Restaurants and quaint little pubs dotted about Whitby.

Getting around

There is a local train station where you can go along the Esk Valley Line which is beautiful. There is a regular bus service leaving Whitby for Scarborough/Robin Hoods Bay and all other destinations along the East Coast. Local taxis are in abundance but some charge more than others so be careful, Abbey Taxis I believe are quite good and fixed price once quoted.

I deal with all bookings personally rather than using an agent. This allows me to tailor each booking to suit individuals needs and tastes rather than a "One Stop for All Holiday Experience". I also pre-supply Restaurant Guides and information to get the best seats and entertainment to make the most of your stay by planning before you arrive. Any other information requested is followed up to the best of my ability.

“Beautifully decorated cottage in prime location”

We are frequent visitors to Whitby but this is the first time we have rented somewhere to stay rather than B&B and I would definitely rent again. Beautiful quaint cottage that's decorated to a very high standard. There was however 6 adults so one bathroom was a downside but nothing we couldn't work around. Only slight negative was we had to vacate by 10am so we had to be up early to pack cars etc.

Owner's reply: A big thank you for an open & honest review, 10am departure is to leave cottage at its best for others, always negotiable if next guests not in same day and nearly all cottages have the same check out time. Web site states one Bathroom, the Cottage actually sleeps eight but as only the one bathroom limit it to six.

I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Gulls Cry. This outstanding cottage was a real home from home, spotlessly clean and very thoughtfully equipped. Our children loved the cosy attic bedroom, and the sleigh beds in each room were really comfortable. The cottage has a great quality bathroom and is finished to a high standard throughout. It is tucked away in a great location, close to all amenities, but also a peaceful haven from the hustle and bustle. We really enjoyed our stay, and Colin the owner was extremely professional and helpful in his dealings with us. A real 5 star Whitby gem!

“Quality cottage, special hidden retreat in whitby”

where do I start. Great location, hidden and quiet, but rjst a few moments from the harbour. Loved the hidden private court yard, enjoyed a few bbq,s there. The kitchen was full of cottage charm but very modern. We loved the living room, beamed ceilings, open fire with logs, so lovely. The bedrooms are all furnished lovely, quality shower a plus too. Spotlessly clean. Colin was helpful right from the first enquiry. When staying in Whitby , I will only want to stay at gulls cry. It doesn't,t matter if you get a wet day in Whitby, when you are staying in such a lovely cottage.

What a gem. This is a beautiful cottage, a real oasis located in the centre of Whitby near all facilities. It was spotlessly clean, comfortable and well equipped. The information from Colin, the owner, was excellent, he gave us tips of what to do and see around Whitby. We felt as if we had a really personal service. We were lucky and had brilliant sunshine all week so being able to eat outside in the courtyard was a real bonus. Morning coffee in the summerhouse - lovely! I bet the cottage is great at Christmas too!

A well appointed and beautifully modernised cottage with the added advantage of being close to the town centre and the many attractions of Whitby. Colin, the proprietor was very helpful and provided us with lots of useful background information.

We had a lovely weekend with the family at Gulls Cry Cottage. The location is great just a few minutes from the harbour, pubs and shops. The cottage is spotless and beds are comfortable. Colin was very helpful. Just wish we could have stayed longer.

Owner's reply: It's down to reviews such as this that hopefully encourage other guests to try Gulls Cry for themselves. We've now added Goose Down Toppers to the Double Beds for a luxurious nights sleep in what was already very comfortable beds. With Summer looming the BBQ and New Summer House will I hope enhance stays at the Cottage even more.
