Description from owner

Description

Ca'Amadi overlooks a very quiet and private Corte (with its 15th century well), yet is only minutes from the bustling Rialto Bridge and the Market. St Mark’s square is about 10 easy minutes away on foot.

The apartment sleeps 2 -4 adults (plus sofa bed) comfortably and is available throughout the year for a minimum of 3 nights. It is an ideal base for weekend or short breaks.

Although popular throughout the year, we particularly recommend visits in the quieter months of February, March and November.

“In the winter, Venice is like an abandoned theatre. The play is finished, but the echoes remain”.

Further details outdoors

Ca'Amadi lies on the edge of the sestiere (district) of Cannaregio, a local residential area and a true ‘Venetian’s Venice’, with a wealth of food and artisan shops, bars and restaurants.

From the busy Campo San Bartolomeo, a street leads north towards the Church of San Giovanni Crisostomo, off which is the square of the Teatro Malibran, one of the city’s major venue for classical concerts. The Corte Ca’Amadi lies just to one side. Nearby is the house where Marco Polo lived.

On the edges of the sestieri of Cannaregio, Castello and San Marco, it is extremely convenient for the city’s main attractions, all of which are in easy walking distance. Equally, the quieter residential areas, with shops, bars and restaurants can easily be found close by and ‘off the beaten path’.

Vaporetti for the outlying Islands of Murano, Burano and Torcello leave from the Fondamente Nuove, again a short walk away.

Close by, across the Rialto Bridge are the spectacular daily fish and vegetable markets and the residential sestieri of Dorsoduro and San Polo.

Location description from owner

The Veneto region

Apart from the obvious and well known charms and attractions of Venice itself, this is an ideal base from which to explore the delights of the Veneto region.

The Palladian villas along the Brenta canal, the cities of Padua, Vincenza and Verona, the Euganean Hills and the Dolomites (with their skiing facilities) are all in easy reach.

“Great apartment; a quiet corner yet very central. Children loved Venice!”

Reviewed 20 May 2015

The apartment was perfectly located 5 minute walk from Rialto, 10 minutes from San Marco, but is in a quiet location away from the hustle and bustle. Very well equipped apartment, super kingsize double bed under the low ceiling/roof and 2 singles for the kids downstairs. Kitchen had everything we needed, although we ate in and out! We were travelling with our 2 children age 7&9. They absolutely loved Venice, the look on their faces as we arrived via vaporetto down the grand canal at 10pm, will stay with us for ever. We bought 48hr vaporetto passes and visited Murano, Burano, Lido and outer edges of Venice. All fabulous. Next 2 days spent on foot with a map wandering from place to place finding marvels around every corner. Children loved map reading and finding their way from one place to the next. We bought Museum passes (€18 each), but only really enjoyed the Natural History Museum and Doges Palace (not big art fans) so weigh up the costs before you buy. All in all a fabulous 4 days. Would recommend both this apartment and Venice as a whole. Ryanair flights to Treviso were very cheap and great service from them and the 45 minute transfer to Venice. All good. Don't leave the kids behind....take them, they'll love it!

“Great location tucked away but near the Rialto Bridge”

Reviewed 19 May 2015

The location of the apartment was great, quiet but so close to the Rialto Bridge which made exploring so easy. The apartment was lovely and we found some cheap restaurants nearby using the guides left by the owners. Looking forward to a return trip.

“Super, comfortable and well appointed apartment right in the centre of Venice.”

Staying at Ca'Amadi over a week enabled my friend Sheila and I to really experience the true atmosphere of Venice. The apartment is situated on one side of an ancient courtyard, tucked away within a stone's throw of the Rialto Bridge, within easy reach of everything we needed for a great stay. The apartment is extremely well equipped and scrupulously clean and the owners had taken care to make sure we were met on our arrival and guided to Ca'Amadi (we should never have found it on our own!) and we found communication with the owners before our departure very easy and also flexible (when we needed to change the date of arrival). We were ideally placed to catch the vaporetto to all the places of interest on our list, and we had two wonderful visits to Torcello and Burano which were full of spring blossom and birdsong. Because we were so centrally placed, we were able to pop out to the bakers' shop first thing for fresh breakfast rolls, into the next street for fresh pasta, to the Rialto market for fantastic fresh fish and veg. and have an evening aperitif at the local bar amongst the locals. We would definitely come again.

“Quiet but Central Location”

Reviewed 19 Jun 2014

We stayed in this apartment at the beginning of May. We had never visited Venice before and were worried about the location of the apartment. Our fears were unfounded and finding the apartment was simple thanks to the excellent directions given by the owners. The apartment is located in a quiet courtyard but is within easy reach of bars, restaurants, shops and vaporetto stops. The apartment is well equipped and has an abundance of books on Venice together with lots of information and recommendations which have been put together by the owners. This apartment suits a family and I feel certain that children would love the upstairs bedroom. It is also suitable for 4 adults as long as you are agile. The friends that we were with could not have managed the upstairs room although they are in their late 60's. Would we stay there again? Most certainly and we highly recommend this apartment. We hope to visit Venice again soon as we only scratched the surface and my mouth is still wide open at the wonder of it all!

“Lovely apartment”

Reviewed 14 Jan 2014

We had a very relaxing 3 night break at Ca'Amadi at the beginning of November. The apartment is in a great location close to Rialto. We felt at home as soon as we walked through the door and enjoyed returning to the apartment late afternoon to relax before exploring Venice by night. The owners have a good selection of guide books and make some useful suggestions from their experiences. We hope to return soon.

“Central location, lovely apartment.”

Apartment has everything you would need, nice little kitchen area including a dishwasher. Nice view onto courtyard area. Would love to come and stay again!!

This is an excellent property, right in the heart of Venice yet very peaceful. Less than 5 minutes walk to Rialto, and most of Venice walkable within 30 minutes from the flat if you want to minimise using the expensive water buses. Plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from close by, and a helpful guide left in the property detailing where to try (and where to avoid!) The apartment itself is lovely and characterful, although watch your head in the attic bedroom! Well equipped kitchen if you fancy self catering ,or just making a morning expresso before heading out for the day. Plenty of space for the 4 of us. We also enjoyed the spy film like rendezvous at the Rialto on our arrival, where we were met by the friendly and helpful Irene. Overall a fantastic place to stay in a fantastic city.

“Fantastic apartment in a beautiful city”

Reviewed 13 Jul 2012

We stayed at Ca'Amadi to celebrate graduation, and were in Venice for four days. We didn't see nearly enough, and the time went far too quickly. Although it was very hot, the apartment provided a cool, comfortable and quiet retreat. We appreciated the thought that has been given to providing guests with information and tips, and managed to get delightfully lost in looking for places, but it really didn't matter. As well as doing the usual tourist things, we also had an early morning trip to San Michele, the cemetery island, which gave a very different insight to the Venetian people and city.

“a charming small apartment right in the heart of Venice”

We spent five nights in the apartment which is very near the Rialto Bridge and all local amenities. It was fully equipped and the service from the agents was excellent. We had an extremely enjoyable holiday there
