GolfThere are 4 golf courses no more than a few minutes’ drive away: Benamor 18 hole par 71. Quinta da Ria 18 hole par 72. Quinta da Cima 18 hole par 72. Colina Verde 9 hole par 28.The Jack Nicklaus-designed Monte Rei course with its challenging fairways, its panoramic views and magnificently designed clubhouse offers the height of golfing luxury. Within a 20-minute drive across the Spanish border (in the Huelva region) there are numerous golf courses including Castro Marim, Islantilla, Isla Canela and Costa Esuri.Faro Town has a historic quarter, a small marina and Forum Algarve Shopping – a modern shopping mall. Guia, to the west, has a large, recently completed shopping complex. Cartaya has an extensive Carrefour hypermarket with a good selection of food, electrical goods and clothing. The area of Monte Gordo offers restaurants as well as a casino complete with nightly shows.The Spanish border towns of Lepe, Ayamonte and Cartaya are 10-20 mins drive away. The fascinating historic city of Seville, no more than 2 hours away, is easily reached by means of the A22 motorway to Spain which is within a few mins drive of the property. The areas to the west including Vilamoura Marina and Albufeira are less than 30 mins drive away. There are several unspoilt inland villages within 10 mins drive.

Central Tavira

The property, which offers amenities for all the family for a relaxing holiday, is ideally located for easy access to Tavira town, many golf courses and excellent beaches. You will find the pretty square in Tavira within a five-minute stroll of the property; here you can relax with your morning coffee and experience the real Algarve.

Tavira Town
Tavira can be explored on foot, by miniature train or by horse and carriage. Its range of amenities includes excellent shops, supermarkets, banks, tourist information office, bus station, railway station and ferry station to Tavira Island and boat trips along the Guardiano River. It has a wide selection of riverside bars/cafes and restaurants to suit all tastes both Portuguese and international. The daily market supplies fresh vegetables, fruit and fish.
The romantic square adjoining the Roman bridge spanning the river is the ideal venue for daytime people-watching and, on summer evenings, enjoying a variety of open-air local music festivals and ‘fado’ dancing.
Churches
Tavira is the 'town of churches' - 37 in all. The church of Santa Maria do Castelo is built on the site of a Mosque and in it are the tombs of Dom Paio Peres Correia and his seven faithful Knights.
Early history
Tavira museum gives an excellent insight into the history of this ancient town which dates back to about 2000 BC. In the entrance can be seen parts of the excavations which dating back to well before the Christian era. There is evidence, too, of the Roman occupation and a subsequent occupation by the Moors. The ruins of the fortress, where you will find tranquil gardens and a magnificent view of the town and the river, are well worth a visit.
The Ria Formosa
The wetlands of the Ria Formosa is a paradise for nature lovers. Tavira Island offers beach cafes, bars, restaurants, long walks and sporting activities. This 4km stretch of white sand remains unspoilt and peaceful. It can be accessed by short ferry crossing from Tavira centre, ferry or water taxi from Quatro Aguas or miniature railway from Santa Luzia. There are numerous other beaches (5 with prestigious blue flag) to visit in the 24km coastal stretch between Tavira and Monte Gordo.
Activities
The whole area offers cyclists, walkers and golfers great opportunities to enjoy their sporting activities.

“Gorgeous accommodation, thrilled.”

Absolutely thrilled with this town house. Spotlessly clean, modern and stylish. The best location on the complex with a poolside view, 2 rooftop terraces with gas BBQ for ease. One terrace mainly sun and the other some shade which suited our party perfectly. The house is south facing so lots of winter sunshine should you go out of season. The agent Rachael is invaluable for local information and can book car hire, restaurants and deal with any issues or queries. Large swimming pool and sunbeds are available. Plenty of outdoor seating on the private patio area at the front of the house and on the rooftop terraces. The walk into town takes 10-15 mins down a series of steps. Of course coming back is a little harder but we enjoyed the walk. Taxis are cheap should you prefer. Tavira is a very quaint river town. Lots of shops and restaurants catering for every purse and palate. Tavira island is a must with the local boat making regular return trips for €1.20. The beaches are long, clean and beautiful. We went to Seville which is 1.5hrs away by car, easily done as a day trip. If golf is your thing it's paradise. I can't sing the praises of this accommodation enough. The photographs do NOT do it justice. Just beautiful. Can't wait to go again.

The Owner, Management Team where great from start to finish. This really is a beautiful modern town house in a perfect and safe little complex. It has everything you need and is a short 10 minute walk to the centre. It makes a great base to explore Portugal and Seville is only an hour and a half away which is a highly recommended visit . Tavira is stunning and this was our fourth visit to the complex and we were not disappointed.

Friendly complex and owners agents great. Will be recommending the accommodation and area to both family and friends. For walking into town there were 120 steps to keep you fit and cycling home was fun forth last part ;) Great restaurants in town and close by if you speak French haha
