Description

Large private pool included in rate, 7 miles away, at our Villa Marianna.

WiFi throughout, free of charge.

A car is unnecessary because you are just 10 mins easy walk, on the flat, along a tree lined boulevard, lined with cafes, bars, restaurants and shops, to the train station, from where you can get to practically anywhere in Italy. Or, you can catch a bus.

In the most vibrant part of this tiny, magical city, Terrazza Bella is housed in the famous Rocca Dei Perugini, built by the Perugini, when they invaded Spoleto at the turn of the century. A palazzo brimming over with history, it is perfectly located in the mediaeval, pedestrian centre of Spoleto, an area bustling with shops, bars and restaurants, squeezed into cobbled streets, under arches and in between higgledy-piggledy faded yellow, blue and pink palazzos.

You step out from the Roman corridor of the palazzo and whchever way you turn, you face a feast of the senses...... Face up and you see a deep azure

Face up and you see a deep azure sky. Word of warning : don't bring a camera, if you want to sight see ! You will be routed to the spot, spell bound by it all.

You can choose from every kind of Italian dish because Italian chefs from all over Italy have settled here during the last 15 years. Consequently, Spoleto has got more restaurants than any other small Italian city. This keeps prices down because the restaurants are open all year, all competing for local trade, tourism not a big thing in Spoleto.

Then, there are the clothes shops, the shoe shops, the gelato bars, the museums, the churches, the art galleries, the Friday market, the organic, fresh food stalls in Piazza Mercato, the porchetta vans (poor piggy, you shouldn't taste so good!), all against a backdrop of sensational beauty.

Terrazza Bella is a very stylish apartment with a large sitting/dining room that has 2 sets of French Windows that open onto a terrace, full of shrubs and flowers, with pretty hill-top views. The centre area has a washing machine and a utility area. Off the centre area is a bathroom with a full sized tub and hand held shower, 2 double bedrooms, each with French windows onto a balcony that can seat 6 persons, overlooking the mediaeval, pedestrian streets, and, the sitting/dining room.

Parking is free in the nearby street. Or, you can hire a car space for 50 euros/week in the car park, next to the elevator that takes you directly to your apartment.

Further, 2 mins walk away, under the famous Torre Del Olio, there is a travellator that consists of a network of moving walkways, escalators and elevators that takes you to every different part of the city.

The gym referred to is State of the Art. It is called “Unique”, it is 1.5 miles and it accepts day, week or monthly memberships. Here there are weight rooms, many classes….yoga, Zumba, pilates, keep fit, stretching etc, a large pool, a huge sauna + steam room, large gym with cross-fit area + weights area + all the machinery you can imagine !

“Perfect in Every Way”

Reviewed 3 Oct 2011

Terrazza Bella met our expectations in every way. It was just as pretty as the website pictured it. Its in-town location worked perfectly for hiking, exploring historic sites, and catching the train which was a 5 minute walk away. It was pretty and very well equipped and the terrace provided many hours of relaxing pleasure from our hectic schedule. Norma and Laurie helped us find the grocery (Eurospin another 5 minute walk) as well as all of their favorie restaurants (our favorite - Al Bacco Felice on Via Aurelio Saffi 24) I've traveled throughout Tuscany and Umbria, and Spoleto offers the most consistently great food so far. We especially enjoyed our lunch date at Villa Marianni, a highlight of the trip, with adundant locale food and views to die for. We did not rent a car as everything we needed was within a walk or any easy train ride. Don't miss the lovely town of Spello, a couple of train stops north where we found a great and reasonable ceramic shop and one of our favorite meals of the two week trip (Porta Venere on Via Torri di Properzio 37) I'm returning to Spoleto in May 2012 to celebrate my 40th wedding anniversary with my husband and we'll be staying again at one of Norma's apartments. Repeat clients are the best advertisement, so I guess that says it all.

“best place in Italy”

Reviewed 1 Aug 2011

This apartment is in the heart of the most beautiful small city in Italy. You can look down on the main pedestrian way (no vehicles), rest on your terrace in the back, or go out and experience the friendly people and interesting sites. The landlords are just about the friendliest and most charming people we have ever met, and they went out of their way to make our stay lovely.
