The Dalmatia region

Dalmatia is a region on the eastern coast of Adriatic Sea, situated in Croatia. With only 50 km wide at its widest part, it is mostly a coastal region characterized by its coves, secluded beaches, islands and inlets. Due to the rugged coastline and numerous islands of all sizes and topographies, diving, yachting, kayaking and other outdoor activities are very popular in this part of Croatia. Dalmatian coast is known for its warm sea, constant winds and beautiful wooded islands.
Zadar, Sibenik, Trogir, Split and Dubrovnik are stunning, timeless medieval towns with wide coastal boulevards, marble fountains, monasteries, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque monuments. During summer art, food and music fill the theaters, plazas, galleries and streets of those cities and the atmosphere is awesome. Attractive tourist rivieras and resorts spreads accross Dalmatian coast: Omis, Makarska, Vodice and Rogoznica are among the most popular travel destinations in Croatia. National parks Paklenica, the island of Mljet, Kornati archipelago have a prominent landscape that can be explored safely.

Split-Dalmatia County

Split town is the center of Split Riviera and also a cultural and administrative center of Middle Dalmatia. With train and bus stations, ferry port, and the airport (25 km from the city) tiding it with the rest of Croatia, Split is the main transport hub on the Croatia's Adriatic coast. Riviera of Split is not only a relevant transport hub to connect with Brac, Hvar, Vis, Solta, Korcula and other Middle Dalmatia island or nearby rivieras of Trogir on the northwest and Omis on the south, but it is also a fun-filled, attractive holiday destination with the most kilometers of beaches among all Croatia's rivieras.
The heart of the historical complex of Split town is the Palace of Diocletian (a Roman emperor native of this area), which is considered one of the most ancient remains in the world, included in the list of protected World Heritage sites by UNESCO. Today it is one of best conserved Roman palaces. Other important archaeological remains within the palace are the Temple of Jupiter and the Mausoleum of Diocletian which later became the Cathedral of St. Diomed (Sveti Duje). The cathedral has ornate altar and bell tower in Romanesque-Gothic style, a mixture of styles reserved for those who love architecture. Other historical monuments in Split Riviera are remains of Salona, the most important Roman city at this side of the Adriatic, Klis fortress and Roman aqueduct that is still in use.
The climate of Split Riviera is Mediterranean with temperatures of around 28 grades Celsius during the summer (from June to September), accompanied by mild winds.
