The Neighbourhood

Greenwich Market, just ten minutes walk from the flat, is a great place to browse for original artworks and hand-crafted toys, fashion items and handmade jewellery, delicious fresh produce and mouth-watering food-to-go, all under one roof. If you fancy a stroll down the River Thames, it is just 10 minutes away en route to many historic local sites,

Walk on to Royal Greenwich Park, to chill and take in the 183 acres of beautiful undulating parkland in London’s oldest enclosed royal park. With breathtaking views of the London skyline it has something for everybody – flower gardens and ancient woodland, children’s playgrounds, a duckpond, cafes, a boating lake and even a small herd of deer. Greenwich park is a wonderful place to stroll at any time of year and to picnic in warm weather. The Park is also home to the Greenwich Royal Observatory, a building designed by Christopher Wren, architect of St Paul’s Cathedral and many other iconic buildings, and the Meridian Line from which all the world’s time is measured.

For anyone interested in ships and the sea, the National Maritime Museum and the Old Royal Naval College, also on the edge of the Park, are reckoned to be “finest and most dramatically sited architectural and landscape ensemble in the British Isles”. The National Maritime Museum is the world’s largest museum of man’s relationship with the sea, with 10 galleries and a vast collection that spans artworks, maps and charts, and other memorabilia.

To continue the maritime theme, you can walk down to the river, to visit the Cutty Sark, the world’s sole surviving tea clipper, the fastest ship of her time and now a beautiful and award-winning visitor attraction in Greenwich.

Close to the Cutty Sark, you can hop aboard a riverboat for a sightseeing trip down the River Thames, passing under the iconic structures of London Bridge and Tower Bridge and cruising down to Westminster, Big Ben and The Houses of Parliament. You can stop off at different locations along the riverbanks, to explore London’s other attractions, cultural centres, art galleries and theatres, sample its huge range of international cuisine, and then take the riverboat back to Greenwich.
