“It wasn't quite as bad as I thought it would be”

Arriving at this apartment after a trip from Australia my friend and I were distressed with the apartment. After complaining and asking for repairs we tried to be philosophical with the "We're not buying it, only staying for 9 days." The problems as we saw them were 1. a bathroom room that wouldn't close (we are friends, not partners) 2. her bedroom door would not stay open 3. the mattresses were old and a bit lumpy 3. there were absolutely no basic provisions (salt, pepper, sugar, teabags, coffee etc) 4. the little bedroom furniture was 70s era laminate, 5. carpet was old and wrinkled (my friend also thought grotty) 6. walls paper thin so there was noise from other apartments. A pleasant young man arrived the next day to repair the doors. We asked for after 6pm but 9:30 was a bit late. He repaired the bathroom door and supplied a wedge to keep the other door open. The heating of the apartment was excellent for those from warmer climes. Several days later we arrived back at the apartment to discover that someone had been in and changed the bedlinen and towels. It had also been cleaned. This was disconcerting as we hadn't expected it and our possessions were out. The towels were changed another time during our stay. One night young people on the level below had friends around - no music but the talking/laughing continued until 3am when I went down and asked them to be quiet. They were apologetic and quietened by 3:30. I feel the problem was that of different cultural understandings and expectations. The apartment was clean, well located and with a lift. The kitchen and living area had been refurbished but lacked any amenities. Everyone I spoke to used English as their second language which contributed to problems as they didn't seem to understand the problems. I am hesitant to recommend it but neither do I want to dam it.

“Great location and very servicable”

We travelled with two children 8 and 11, so this apartment was a great size for us and had everything we needed for 2 weeks in London. Although we did miss not having a dishwasher and the bathroom needs a little work. Having lived in London previously we knew the location well, but even if you are not familiar with London, Lancaster/ Queensway is an easy location to navigate and is very close to tube, bus and rail links. Neighbourhood felt safe and quite a good outlook.
