Description from owner

Description

Almost two holidays for the price of one! We think you will love being so close to all London's major attractions and love getting back to the stylish comfort of the apartment amidst the romantic charm of St Katharine's.
The most difficult decision of the day might well be whether to eat out - literally hundreds of restaurants, pubs and bars in the area catering for all tastes and pockets; or to stay in - cosy candlelight?, sunset on the balcony? and Britain's best supermarket (Waitrose gets our vote, anyway) 30 seconds from the front door.

This apartment has been completely refurbished to a high standard. The open-plan living area is very flexible - a sliding wall provides a completely separate second bedroom - a double or two single beds, whilst the master bedroom has a king size bed.
The 'one-and-a-half' bathroom design - 2 rooms each with toilet, basin and a private access to a wet room style shower works well for 4 people.

Location description from owner

The England region

Most people visit London to experience the city's extensive and diverse attractions (you could stay a year and not repeat anything), but London is also the centre of a network of connections over South East England making a wider tourist experience (South and East coasts, Stonehenge, Castles, Country Houses, the Cotswolds, other cities - Oxford, Cambridge etc) an easy organised or freelance day trip.

Central London/Zone 1

St Katharine's comprises three historic docks sympathetically converted into a marina, with apartments, shops and restaurants occupying the old warehouses - you will be staying in one of the most attractive historic areas of central London (Zone 1), and right on the Thames. Adjacent to the 'Square Mile' (the oldest part of the city) there are many top sights on your doorstep - it's a five minute stroll past the boats to the Tower of London and Tower bridge - both iconic buildings with award winning museums.
Over Tower Bridge (great views) is the 'South Bank Walk', a popular pedestrianised route from the Design Museum to the London Eye with major attractions along the way - HMS Belfast, The London Dungeons, The Golden Hind, Borough Market, Shakespeare's Globe, The Tate Modern, The National Theatre, and The Royal Festival Hall to name only a few.
The Thames Walk on the north side brings Wapping with its cobbled streets and pubs - at least three claim to be the oldest Thames tavern! - probably true as Dickens, Pepys and Samuel Johnson were avid patrons.
Going north it's a five minute walk to Wilton's - Europe's oldest music hall and still entertaining - and then on to the vibrant Brick Lane and Spittalfields market for some serious funky shopping, then if you're tired? - there's always a Jack the Ripper pub for refreshment and a tale or two to tell.
Tube, taxi, bus, boat, and bike stops are all really close with only a short ride to The West End, Covent Garden, Greenwich, The Dome and the 2012 Olympic Park.

“Lovely apartment in a fabulous location”

Reviewed 17 Sep 2012

I spent two weeks in August at this lovely apartment with a great view over the marina. The accommodation is exactly as described & is very modern with everything you could need on holiday. The location was excellent: very close to bus, tube & river transport, in a lovely area for walks & a Waitrose supermarket across the street. This was my first time staying in this area of London & I was very pleased to find that while being close to all the sights the apartment itself was quiet & the area felt very safe. I especially enjoyed being so close to the Thames as I was able to take early morning walks along the river while London was waking up. Annie contacted me during my stay to ensure that I had all that I needed. I was happy with the experience of booking a property directly with the owner, rather than through a management company as I have done in the past. I love coming to London & having such a great place to stay made my holiday all the more enjoyable.

“A. Very welcoming apartment”

Friendly welcome from Annie, the apartment was well appointed with a friendly atmosphere. Easy walk to tTower Bridge and Tower Station, supermarket across the road. Excellent would stay again and would recommend to friends.

“Nicest apartment in our Europe trip”

Reviewed 8 Apr 2012

From the moment we entered the apartment it felt very inviting and confortable. It has been finished to a high standard and comes with all that you need for a comfortable stay. It is the perfect size for a couple staying an extended time an dis positioned perfectly for seeing the sights of London. Wake in the morning to sunshine over the marina and a view to Tower Bridge in the loungeroom. Walk less than 5 minutes to The Tower of London, cross the Tower Bridge and be on the Queen's Jubilee Walk. Take the underground from Tower Hill on the circle line or cross the street to Fenchurch Station. Being positioned right on the edge of the London congestion zone you can hire a car and go further afield from the hotel on the dock and miss the traffic. This also makes it much quieter at night in your confortable bed. Great location would stay again.

“Great apartment for relaxing base to explore London”

Reviewed 25 Oct 2011

We enjoyed a 5 day break with 2 teenage sons and found this apartment met all our needs. It was comfortable, spotless, well equiped and with easy, safe access to transport - tube, boat, and bus. Despite this we walked to many places as it was close enough to visit many sites on foot. We had a great week and would certainly recommend this accommodation.
