Location description from owner

The Tuscany region

Central Florence

The apartment is located in the Oltrarno area, that is the old city quarter where Florentines prefer to spend their free time to appreciate both the beauty of the monuments, churches and squares, and the recreation in a huge number of restaurants, trattorias, bars, wine bars and "fiaschetterie" that still give a taste of genuineness to this part of the city, thanks to the care given both to the food quality and to a cultural and musical program, that offers an assortment of initiatives throughout the year (in summer there are bandstands and outdoor cafes set up in all the squares).
The house is located in front of the ancient walls just outside Porta Romana, a privileged access to the most renowned surroundings of the city: Chianti with the towns of Greve in Chianti, Tavarnelle Val di Pesa and other places famous for wine production and excellent restaurants and the area between Florence and Siena with the charming cities of San Gimignano, Certaldo, Montalcino, Montepulciano (these places can also be easily reached by busses of the company SITA, the bus stop is in Piazza di Porta Romana and the journeys take 30 to 80 min. according to destination).
In the apartment, you will find touristic information, guides and a map of the Oltrarno area with a list of useful addresses (supermarkets, cash dispensers, pharmacies), as well as restaurants, taverns, wineries and bars in a range of prices.
For an overview of many cultural and civic events offered in the area, we recommend the site www.diladdarno.it/en/.

“Comfortable, clean and convenient 2 bedroomed flat up small flight of stairs”

Reviewed 16 Jun 2015

We were there in soaring temperatures - 30 degrees throughout - and the ceiling fans coped wonderfully. The double bedroom faces onto a busy road but even in that heat I slept with windows closed and was comfy. I was there with my 18 year old grandson and he has approved this! There was no downside! The 12 and 13 buses go to many of the places you're likely to want and it was 30 mins in a bus with a change at the bus station to get to Florence airport. WE walked easily to the Ponte Vecchio, there's a great gelateria at Porta Roma and a good eating place just up from there called Trattoria Da Ruggero. We only went to Boboli Gardens on our last day and then found how close to the flat there was a gate. The high point in the gardens is just about the same height as the top of the Duomo Cupola so don't waste time, money and a queue there; walk to the top in Boboli where the Porcelaine museum is and you'll see just as much.

“Comfortable apartment in quieter area with welcoming touches”

Reviewed 4 May 2015

From the start the owner of this appartment was very helpful providing information about the area of Florence where her appartment is situated (south of the Arno River near Boboli Gardens)... restaurants, ATMs, grocery stores as well as bus connections to the centre. If you want something comfortable, a little out of the main tourist areas then this appartment is for you. We appreciated the welcoming touches such as fresh fruit and tea and coffee making facilities in the kitchen. It's only a 10 minute walk to the Santo Spirito area where we had many delicious meals and gelati.

“charming,comfortable and attractive apartment.”

Reviewed 13 Sep 2014

The apartment was very comfortable and clean, towels and extra bedding were plentiful. It was lovely to be in close proximity to local families.Alida was extremely helpful with all the arrangements and always responded to emails very promptly, and arrival was easy and smooth. We found the distance from the Ponte Vecchio etc perfectly manageable and busses run frequently nearby but the less able might struggle a little, this did not stop us from seeing everything, Locally there are mini markets that stay open until late, handy for milk etc on way home. The only little problem was the traffic noise at night if windows were kept open, but the air-conditioning kept it cool enough to sleep. All in all we were very happy staying in the lovely apartment and Florence is magical.

“Vacanza davvero incantevole Oltrarno”

Reviewed 25 Aug 2014

“Very friendly and helpful host, flat on noisy road but convenient and comfortable”

Reviewed 11 Aug 2014

We were very impressed by the friendly and co-operative approach of our host Alida, who was happy to accommodate us even though we had to arrive very late in the evening (albeit on payment of a €20 supplement). When we booked it we had not realised that the flat is situated on an extremely noisy road, but closing the front windows blocked this out effectively (the back bedroom was in any case very quiet) and the ceiling fans ensured a comfortable temperature. The flat is small - especially the shower-room - but it proved adequate for a four-night stay with our two teenage/young adult daughters. The kitchen is very well equipped, although there is no dishwasher. The location was sufficiently close to the historic centre, which was a 25 minute stroll away along an interesting road, but mercifully out of the main tourist area. It's particularly convenient for the Boboli Gardens. We also managed to find a place to park our car for free, a 15 minute walk away up a beautiful hill planted with vineyards.

“Wonderful time”

Reviewed 17 Jun 2014

We stayed in this apartment for 4 nights. It felt like home and we had a great time visiting Florence and the Tuscany. The apartment is clean, well equipped and close to the ZTL, which made it easy to get there by car and still be close to the central. The owner is very friendly and we had a warm welcome on our arrival. The apartment is located next to a heavily used road. The window of the main bedroom opens to this road. People with light sleep might get distracted by the traffic. Especially during hot summer nights, when you need to leave the windows open. For us, this was not much of a problem. Close to the apartment are several bus stops. Buses are leaving every few minutes to get to Piazzale Michelangelo, central train station and even other directions like Siena and Pisa.

“Wonderful apartment”

Reviewed 28 Apr 2014

This apartment is exactly as the owner described it within the advert. It is perfectly located to see all of Florence without enclosing you within the massive horde of people visiting this beautiful city. The property is complete, clean, accessible and comes with everything that adults and 2 children would need. Alternately it is spacious for 2 adults. My wife and I spent 4 weeks here and required nothing else other than advice from Alida, the owner. She is a great person, most helpful and prepared with lots of answers about Tuscany and surroundings. The nearby community provides restaurants, shops, WINE, gardens, and virtually anything else you might need. Wifi works like a charm Dennis, Calgary Canada

“Great Apartment - very comfy and close to bus and other attractions”

Reviewed 22 Dec 2013

We really enjoyed our stay here for 4 nights. We are a family of 5 (3 kids ranging in ages 18 months - 9 years old). The walk to Ponte Vecchio is only 10-15 mins. The bus stop is also right outside the apartment, which was great for us when we did a day trip to Siena. Apartment was well appointed, very clean, beds were comfortable, and it was nice that we were welcomed with some fresh fruit, bread, cereal, and a variety of teas. We made good use out of the washer/dryer as well. Communication with Alida went well both before and during our stay.

“Soggiorno fantastico”

Reviewed 23 Aug 2013
