Description from owner

Description

"Alba's Garden" used to be the studio of a Florentine artist of the early 1900s.

His wife Alba, a venetian lady, created the garden, with its high palm trees and evergreens.

The apartment is situated in a 16th Century palazzo which used to be a convent; its walls are thick and guarantee a pleasant temperature even during the hot Florentine summer.

The apartment itself is 50 square meters, but the garden room provides an extra 25 square meters of space. The garden is more than 100 square meters.

The prominent features are the frescoed ceilings, the lovely antique glass doors, and the enclosed mediterranean garden, with tall palms, banana trees, an oleander and an orange tree. Almost all trees and shrubs are evergreen, so the garden is enjoyable in any season.

Access is from an internal private courtyard away from the street, so the apartment is very quiet and peaceful.

The apartment is unmistakably antique but the bathroom and the kitchen have been

The apartment is unmistakably antique but the bathroom and the kitchen have been completely renovated.

The kitchen is provided with modern appliances, including dishwasher and washing machine, microwave oven, toaster, italian coffee maker.

The bedroom, with a queen sized bed (190x160 cm.) is spacious and silent.

The sun room, provided with a pull-out sofa bed, opens onto the garden. There are tables with chairs to sit outside under the trees in two different spots.

A large garden room/conservatory provides even more space to dine outside and relax.

It is ideal for two people: particularly romantic for honeymoons and anniversaries. Gay friendly.

Due to the many glass doors, it is not suitable for very young children.

Please note that the price does not include the tourist tax, amounting currently at 1,5 euro per day per person, up to a maximum of 7 consecutive nights. This sum will be collected upon arrival; if you prefer to add it to the price, please ask for a quote before requesting a booking.

Location description from owner

The Tuscany region

Ideal for a full immersion in art and culture, Florence is so rich with things to see and do that you will never have enough time. Climb to the top of the Dome, take a hike up to S. Miniato, gaze at the landscape from Piazzale Michelangelo, climb the hill to palazzo Bardini, besides seeing all the traditional sights, and you will have lots to remember.

Central Florence

In the area, you must see the S. Lorenzo food market, the S.M. Novella church, the S.M.Novella antique Pharmacy; in a few minutes on foot you arrive at the Cathedral and at the Ponte Vecchio, Uffizi, Medici Chapel. Go across the river to find the Oltrarno with its artisans and the lovely S. Spirito church, as well as S.M. del Carmine with the Masaccio frescoes.
There are many car rentals in the area if you want to go for a drive outside town.
We recommend a dinner at the Bistrò del Mare, on Lungarno Corsini, great location and excellent fish and seafood. If you like meat, dine at Osteria dei Centopoveri for fine fillet-steak. For a proper Florentine steak, go to the famous trattoria Sostanza in via del Porcellana. Have an informal "panino con il lesso" (boiled meats) at Nerbone in the Central Market. You will also find plenty of vegetarian dishes all around town, such as ribollita, zuppa di farro, pappa al pomodoro.
Have your "aperitivo" on the roof garden (with swimming pool) of the Minerva Hotel, right in Piazza S. Maria Novella, ot on the Baglioni Hotel terrace, both with stunning views.
