Location description from owner

The Tuscany region

We are in Tuscany which is known for its landscapes, traditions, history, artistic legacy and its influence on high culture. It is regarded as the birthplace of the Renaissance and has been home to many figures influential in the history of art and science, and contain well-known museums such as the Uffizi and the Pitti Palace. Tuscany produces wines, including Chianti, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, Morellino di Scansano and Brunello di Montalcino. Having a strong linguistic and cultural identity, it is sometimes considered "a nation within a nation". Seven Tuscan localities have been designated World Heritage Sites: the historic centre of Florence (1982); the historical centre of Siena (1995); the square of the Cathedral of Pisa (1987); the historical centre of San Gimignano (1990); the historical centre of Pienza (1996); the Val d'Orcia (2004), and Medici Villas and Gardens (2013).

Central Florence

Florence is famous for its history: a centre of medieval European trade and finance and one of the wealthiest cities of the time, it is considered the birthplace of the Renaissance, and has been called "the Athens of the Middle Ages". A turbulent political history includes periods of rule by the powerful Medici family, and numerous religious and republican revolutions.[6] From 1865-71 the city was the capital of the recently established Kingdom of Italy.

The Historic Centre of Florence attracts millions of tourists each year, and Euromonitor International ranked the city as the world's 72nd most visited in 2009, with 1.7m visitors. It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1982. Due to Florence's artistic and architectural heritage, it has been ranked by Forbes as one of the most beautiful cities in the world,[8] and the city is noted for its culture, Renaissance art and architecture and monuments.[9] The city also contains numerous museums and art galleries, such as the Uffizi gallery and the Palazzo Pitti, amongst others, and still exerts an influence in the fields of art, culture and politics.

The apartment is located in Via Bonifacio Lupi 15, just behind Piazza San Marco, in a quiet residential area; it is just 5 minutes walking from the Accademia Museum (home to the famous David by Michelangelo), Mercato Centrale “San Lorenzo” and Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore (the Duomo).
The historic centre is a mostly pedestrian area and getting to all the points of interest on foot is fast and easy. The location and the comfort of the apartment make it the perfect place for your holiday in Florence.
The supermarket is 4 minutes walking behind the apartment. Everything that you want to see is within walking distance from the apartment.
