Perfect Georgian Cottage for Girls Get Togethers and Family Celebrations in Bath.

Benson Cottage is the perfect place for a get together in beautiful Georgian Bath. This hidden gem in a quiet pedestrian street is just three minutes from Milsom Street and a short level walk to all the main tourist attractions of Bath. From the outside it is a pretty Georgian cottage, but step inside and you find an exciting open plan interior, beautifully furnished to sleep up to 8 people in comfort. The original Georgian front door opens into a fabulously equipped kitchen dining room. This is the place for celebrations meals around the large wooden table seating up to 10. Glass doors lead through to a charming sitting room with a chaise lounge and two huge comfy sofas. There is a 32" TV with DVD player for relaxing after sightseeing or a night on the town. We have a great library of paperbacks and DVDs. The ground floor separates the two sleeping areas, making the house perfect for hen parties, re-unions and family gatherings. The upper floor is flooded with light from a large lantern window and attractively decorated with funky wallpaper and cushions. This area is partly open plan with two generous single beds that can convert into a luxurious super king. All our beds are handmade by a traditional English company using natural fibres with high quality sprung pocket mattresses. We have ultra soft feather and down duvets and pillows with Egyptian cotton, satin stripe sheets, ensuring comfort and luxury. Folding double doors lead through to the second bedroom overlooking gardens, with two singles or a super king bed. The contemporary drench-style shower room with WC makes the upstairs area perfect for a family, two couples or four friends.

Downstairs from the kitchen dining room is a third large, luxurious bedroom, beautifully decorated in soft colours with vintage furniture and accessories creating a cosy, sumptuous atmosphere. There are twin beds that can be made up as a super king and a pretty day bed with a pocket sprung mattress. If you have an extra person, we can put a fold up bed in this room too without it being too cramped. The contemporary bathroom has a double ended bath with shower. There is oodles of hot water, white fluffy towels and personal toiletries so everyone can shower or bath in comfort before an evening out in the town. If you are planning a longer stay we have a washer drier under the stairs with a warm hanging area for drying off wet coats. Outside is a small vaulted area.

We welcome hen parties and families but regret we do not accept bookings for stag parties.

Getting around

The nearest mainline train station is Bath Spa Station. It is only a 5 min taxi ride from the station to Benson Cottage or a 20 min walk. Bath is a relatively small city and most places can reached on foot. Bars, restaurants, shops are only 5 mins walk from Benson Cottage. Major tourist attractions are only 10 mins walk - Roman Baths, Bath Abbey, Thermae Spa, etc. There are many local buses and there is also a tourist bus. There is a local taxi company and Uber.

Interaction with guest

There is a key safe at Benson Cottage. Full instructions will be emailed to you a week before you arrive. I will pop over after you arrive to go through a couple of things, take a swipe of your card as guarantee in case of damages, and answer any questions you have about the cottage or Bath. I'm very happy to give you recommendations of things to do in Bath.

“I wish i lived here!”

I stumbled across Benson Cottage whilst looking for accommodation for a hen party. We were a party of 10 and really wanted to stay somewhere a little bit special. Benson Cottage certainly exceeded our expectations in this regard. When we arrived on the Friday night, Rachel, the owner, met us and watched the car whilst we unloaded. The cottage is down a side street and the permit parking is a 5 minute walk away so it was lovely to have her on hand to make the unloading process easier. When I stepped through the front door I was taken aback by how beautiful the cottage was. Every attention had been made to the interior design of the property, so much so that it looked like somebody’s house rather than an impersonal holiday let. The shelves were stocked with books, there were slippers on the side, umbrellas on pegs and wine, bread and jam on the table. The cottage was also lovely and warm – the secret to making anywhere feel like home! It can be difficult to find a property that offers room for 10 in single beds but Benson Cottage scored highly there too. Upstairs comprised of one long bedroom with 4 single beds; perfectly designed to house a group of girls, with an ensuite bathroom and lots of mirrors and plug sockets. Another bedroom was situated downstairs, with 3 single beds, and in our case, an extra camp bed (which didn’t look any different to the other comfy beds). All the beds were comfy with big fluffy duvets and blankets. Towels and toiletries were also provided, which was a nice touch. In the lounge there was plenty of seating and one of the sofas pulled out to create a large double bed. The kitchen was ideal for our party too. A large wooden table took pride of place and sat all of us with ease…perfect for breakfast and afternoon tea! Not only was the cottage a beautiful place to stay (and so much more than just a base), but it was central too! We didn’t need to take one taxi the whole weekend. All of Bath’s attractions were a short walk away and the club and restaurant we went to were a two minute stumble home. That’s not to say that we suffered from noise…the cottage was peaceful and we weren’t disturbed by passers-by or traffic due to its side-lane location. All in all I couldn’t recommend Benson Cottage more highly. All the hens loved it and many commented that they would like to move in! The booking process was a pleasure and Rachel and Sam, the owners, couldn’t have been more helpful. I hope we can go back again soon.

Spent one night here with friends on 29th January. Wish it could have been longer! Lovely cottage in a pretty side street full of interesting architecture. It was very quiet yet incredibly close to all the shops, bars, restaurants, cafes and so easy to reach all of the sights. The cottage itself has brilliant fresh and original decor and wonderful finishing touches for the guests. It was much bigger than we expected with plenty of room over three floors and a large cosy sitting room. We especially loved the really well equipped kitchen and the luxuriously comfy beds. A fantastic find, especially as it was a last minute booking. Will definitely be back!
