Location description from manager

The England region

Bath's claim to fame includes the only hot springs in the country, which fill the Roman Baths and the new Thermae Bath Spa, the most modern Spa building in the country; the abundance of Georgian terraced houses and many individual unique buildings of that era, and the gorgeous setting in the rolling wooded hills of Somerset. The city centre is entirely user-friendly, walkable, compact and delightful to explore. There are intriguing museums, famous-name restaurants, individual shops, and pavement cafes

Central Bath

There is so much to see and learn about in the city centre itself; a good starting point would be the free walking tours of Bath with the Mayor's fully trained Honourary Guides, which operate twice every day; or take a trip on the city tour buses which make a journey through and round the city at regular intervals all day every day.

Visit the museums - Building of Bath Museum, Herschel Museum, Museum of Bath at Work, Holburne Museum, Jane Austen Centre, Fashion Museum - there is enough here to keep you busy for more than a week!

Festivals run at intervals during the year - the Literature Festival, Music Festival, Taste of Bath, Jane Austen Festival, Mozartfest, and the Christmas market. The Theatre Royal has pre-London shows, there are two other small theatres, and several picture houses

Attractions further afield include Longleat, Cheddar gorge and caves, Stonehenge, Avebury, Wells Cathedral, Bristol and pretty Cotswold villages.

“Charming cottage, a special find.”

Reviewed 17 Nov 2012

A charming cottage, hidden away in Hedgemead park in a row of four, a special find. Steep access by steps and park path but wasn't an issue for us. Easy walking distance into Bath centre. Parking permit for nearby car park meant we left the car safely parked for our four day stay and enjoyed strolling around this beautiful city. The cottage has been renovated sympathetically to give an easy living space with some charming original features. This is a small property which uses the space very effectively. We enjoyed our stay.

“This cottage is just like being at home.”

Reviewed 22 May 2012

The cottage is very comfortable. Staying here felt like I was at home. Every time we go to England, I have jet lag for 3 or 4 days. From our first night here, we went to bed at night and I went straight to sleep. I did wake up at 4 or 5 in the morning but I did that when we returned home too. The linens, dishes, and appliances are all high quality; the same ones you would have in your own home. The double bed is very comfortable. I didn't try the single beds but imagine they are too. The owner has put information in binders so that it is easy to connect to the WiFi, use the TV, plan day trips, eat out or explore Bath. If you are not in shape you may want to take someone with you to carry your luggage. : ) There is no access to the cottage by car. The car park is across the street. Once you park the car you will have to go up some steps that are a bit steep. Once you get your luggage up the hill all is good; you will be in better shape when you have to sadly leave the cottage at the end of your stay. I personally liked the car park being across the street. As far as I'm concerned, this place is perfect. The only thing that could possibly be better is if I owned it so that I could stay here any time I wanted. And I would want that often. On second thought, perhaps you shouldn't stay here in case I want to visit again. We had a wonderful stay here and I hope you do too.
