"Does what it says on the tin!"
The gite is exactly as described & is spotlessly clean, comfortable & well equipped with some basics to get you up & running & plenty of cleaning supplies, wul, d/w tabs, laundry liquid, bin bags etc that so many other gites fail to provide. They'll even get a little shopping in for your arrival, (thank you Alison's mum!) & put something to cool in the drinks fridge. (Yay, no fighting for drinks v comestibles fridge-space in this gite!!) With everything provided all you really have to do is unpack your clothes, relax & enjoy. The pool, hot tub & gardens are superb - you cannot help but relax in such delightful surroundings & on such comfortably cushioned sun loungers. We had a little rain & a couple of uncharacteristically foggy mornings but with a huge covered pool we could still enjoy being in the warm water. What's not to like - as they say! Alison & Alex are wonderful hosts, serious when they need to be, (pool/hot tub 'rules') but relaxed with a great sense of humour. They'll gladly join you for a chinwag (& a drink, or several) but can also be discreet when you need space. They are a mine of information & will happily recommend activities, places to visit & local restaurants. 'Menu du Jour' abound in the area & we were spoilt for choice - there's a very good website dedicated to lunchtime eating, (ask Alison/Alex). Having WiFi is a real bonus especially for checking out opening/closing times, booking tickets & tables & 'Skypeing'! Wherever one stays there will always be things that could be better but I have to say that at Le Monjat the ONLY thing I would change would be the terrace chairs - more support for the back & comfier cushions but only so we could sit for longer admiring the view, gossiping & drinking with Alison & Alex. Thank you so much for making this a truly memorable holiday.

"A wonderful place to stay in a breathtakingly beautiful area"
We've just returned from 10 days and can't recommend our hosts and the gite enough. The area is breathtakingly gorgeous and there are so many things to do within the surrounding areas, the gite has everything you can think of and we had no complaints whatsoever which is surprisingly rare for us! The boys loved it, from the heated pool which we were lucky enough to swim in, even in April, to the hot tub, to the trap door in the upstairs room to the barbeques and the adorable Nellie the dog. We hope to return.... We personally enjoyed delicious lunch and dinner at Limeuil, lunch in pretty Saint Cyprien, the market at Le Bugue, the castle at Castlenaud, canoeing from Les Eyzies, exploring medieval Sarlat and being awe inspired by pre-historic art at Lascaux 2.

"Relaxed holiday with excellent hosts"
Beautiful surroundings, and excellent accommodation. The gite was very clean and well maintained, with everything we needed for our stay. The owners Alison & Alex gave us a very warm welcome, providing us with complimentary drinks on arrival, and entertaining us with a BBQ. The garden was beautifully kept, and the pool and hot tub were enjoyed every day well into the evening. ( the sunset is beautiful from the hot tub!). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and hope to return.

"A quaint and charming Gite with excellent facilities"
We went to Le Monjat for 2 weeks in May 2012. It was primarily a cycling holiday but relaxing and hopefully sunshine were also on the menu! The property was ideal for four of us The Gite was well equipped with everything you needed for a self catering holiday. The gardens were beautiful with views in all directions. A lot of time was spent in the covered heated pool, and the hot tub was an added bonus! It was very quiet and restful as the nearest property was some distance away. The village of Cendrieux was less than 10 mins walk, where there was a restaurant and a shop that only stocked basic amenities. We wanted milk on our first day but none was available, and as we didn't want to buy anything else the owner wasn't happy. We bought most shopping, including fuel, in Vergt, which was 8 miles away. Alex and Alison were brilliant. Very welcoming and nothing was to much trouble. We were given information on local restaurants and places of interest which were great. They even went the extra mile and showed us views of the surrounding countryside that we would not have found, and took us to a restaurant that was a different experience and very enjoyable. The best things were the pool, hot tub, our hosts and the cycling! We liked everything about Gite and the surrounding area, and if we were looking to return to the Dordogne would certainly go there again.

"Simply superb. An outstanding holiday enjoyed by all."
This is our 3rd visit to the Gite (having now stayed in both the 2 and 3 bed Gites). The facilities within are well equipped for modern living and offer a very comfortable base to explore the local area. Ideally located Gite, with an array of activities for the family that are easily accessible . The pool and hot tub are excellent. The pool now has a retractable enclosure that provides swimming facilities whatever the weather......bliss!! A glass of wine, watching sunsets to die for, on the bench overlooking the fields in the grounds, is one of my fondest memories. The hosts Alex and Alison as always were stars, so welcoming and our last night barbeque was truly special. Looking forward to our next return visit.

"A lovely comfortable property with welcoming friendly hosts"
Despite the weather (which Alex and Alison couldn't organise for us!) we had a lovely stay here. The gite was comfortable and had everything you could need. Our two young boys (6/3) loved the bedrooms, especially the top room with its trapdoor! The area is beautiful and the Dordogne river and surrounding area is within easy reach. The gite is on a very quiet lane and great for evening walks. The pool was great whatever the weather and the hot tub a sure fire winner. Alex and Alison were perfect hosts, within easy reach but leaving us to our privacy. We couldn't have asked for more. We would love to go back again as we still miss it!
