The North Wales region

Anglesey has a temperate climate with weather systems blowing away across the island, leaving clear blue skies and beautiful views to seaward and over the land. The Isle of Man can regularly be seen on the horizon from Cemaes Bay. To landward, Anglesey is like stepping back into time with white cottages and farmhouses scattered amongst the green fields. It is an island with lots of different beaches and coastal walking trails to explore.

Beaumaris castle is not far away and is open to the public.

Llanbadrig church is one of the oldest churches on the island dating back pre the 12th century and is open most days between May & September.

Cemlyn Bird Sanctuary, a short distance from Cemaes Bay,is a delight to all nature lovers and not to be missed.

LLanddeusant, 15 mins by car from Cemaes is the home of Llynon Mill which was built in 1775/6. The mill was recently restored to a working mill in 1984. The windmill is 3 storyes high and its sails are an impressive sight. In 2006, two huge beautifully thatched round houses were built replacating the Bronze age era and are now open as a museum. Prince Charles honoured the opening ceromony in 2007. Visitors can enjoy a coffee in the of site cafe while admiring the surrounding area.

Cemaes Bay

Cemaes Bay is the most northerly part of Wales and has two lovely beaches, one of which is a blue flag beach. There is a picturesque boat harbour with a pier. It is pleasant to stroll along this pier and watch the local fishermen and yachtsmen enter at high tide. Coastal pathways provide extensive walks with scenic views accompanied by the birdsong of numerous birds which make Anglesey their home.

Fishing and sailing are popular sports.

There is a superb 18 hole golf course 4miles away at Bull Bay (Porth Llechog) where visitors are made very welcome. You can enjoy a game of golf and/or sample one of the delicious meals available in the clubhouse overlooking the sea.

Several hotels and pubs in and nearby Cemaes Bay offer scenic settings and delicious meals.

In the main street of Cemaes there is a Heritage Center and cafe which gives all the local history of the island.

"Excellent Property in an AMAZING location"

We have just returned from a fantastic holiday in a fantastic bungalow (Leeside) which has everything you need, it is clean and comfortable and has a lovely seaview, the location is just amazing ten minutes walk to the local pubs and beach and shops. Jeanette & Charles (Owner of Leeside) are just so very nice, nothing is to much trouble and they are so helpful, we would certainly recommend to any one thinking to book a holiday. It was our first time to Anglesey, however, out of all the places we visited we are so pleased we choose Caemes Bay, it was our favourite place and hopefully we will soon re-visit. We would not hesitate to re-visit or recommend this property as it was TOTALLY AMAZING.

"This bungalow has all you need and is in the most convenient spot."

We stayed for two weeks in this most comfortable and well equipped bungalow. We were fortunate to meet both Jeanette and Charles during our stay and found them very friendly and most helpful. It is very convenient for the beach, shops and the local pubs which also do very good food, especially the Harbour Hotel just 2 minutes walk away! The bay is so beautiful and very convenient for days out travelling around the island and beyond. There are plenty of opportunities for walks around the coast, taking in the local wildlife. We stayed during the recent heatwave so the garden was a pleasant place to spend the hot evenings, with a barbie and a glass or two whilst watching the sunset in the bay. We did not want to leave.

"Lovely accommodation in picturesque village."

Leeside is a lovely bungalow set in a peaceful residential area. To be able to sit at the dining table and have a sea view was wonderful. The garden was lovely with a selection of birds to add interest to our evening BBQ's. The beds were very comfortable and everywhere was very clean. The property has been recently modernised and everything is fresh. Our two 14 year old girls enjoyed the close proximity of the beach and headland walks which gave them some independance and a good reason to walk the dog. The harbour pub is less than 100 yards away and allows you to sit outside with a chilled glass of wine whilst offering free internet connection. Cemaes itself has a good range of small shops and cafes and a choice of 3 pubs. We never tried the food at the local pubs so can't comment but we had a great meal at the Douglas Inn at nearby Tregele and a lovely afternoon tea at Leafy Lane cafe in Bull Bay. The jam factory is def worth a visit for their cherry jam and to see their eclectic collection of cars and signs. Cemaes is a good base for touring the many beaches and villages of Anglesey and the girls enjoyed the interactive science displays at Wylfra Power station. A very enjoyable holiday made more pleasant by the lovely owners Jeanette and Charles who gave us a guided tour of the property on arrival and quickly returned the deposit.
