Location description from owner

The Scotland region

A surprisingly compact region of remarkable variety. The Kingdom of Fife will greet you with colourful fishing villages that are framed by glorious beaches which sweep the coastline, and miles of peaceful countryside nestled inland. A region perfect for families, a maze of history and a treasure trail of hidden delights.

There are a wide selection of visitor attractions in Fife that range from unique and interesting museums to aquariums, a secret war bunker and animal parks. Choose from a wide range of high quality Fife attractions that are suitable for the whole family and open all year round.

Travel through the UK's longest underwater viewing tunnel, dive with sand tiger sharks, explore the seal sanctuary and witness the beautiful coral reefs at Deep Sea World, Scotland's national aquarium.

Step into another underwater world of adventure and discovery at St Andrews Aquarium. Get up close and personal with the daily interactive demonstrations such as the seal feeding and rockpool ramble and witness an array of fascinating and dangerous creatures such as black tip reef sharks, poison dart frogs, piranhas, seahorses, lobsters and, don't forget the meerkats!

For more animal life, check out the Fife Animal Park to witness many wonderful creatures such as parrots, zebras, macaws, short-clawed otters and donkeys. Another fun filled family day out can be spent at the Scottish Deer Centre, home to many different kinds of deer alongside wolves, otters, Highland bulls and Scottish wildcats.

Did you know that Fife was home to Scotland's best-kept secret for over 40 years? Hidden beneath an innocent farmhouse in the East Neuk, discover Scotland's Secret Bunker, a 100 ft underground bunker, the size of two football pitches, one on top of the other! Head down the 150 m entrance tunnel through hermetically sealed, three-ton blast proof doors and uncover how the bunker would have been used in the event of a nuclear war.

Wander around and discover the story of fishing in Fife and Scotland at the Scottish Fisheries Museum in Anstruther, a great way to spend an afternoon. There are a number of hands on activities, multimedia displays and exhibitions at the British Golf Museum in St Andrews.

Cellardyke

The most visited town in the area is St Andrews, the home of golf. Outwith St Andrews, you will find the historic fishing ports and sandy beaches along the craggy coastline of Fife's East Neuk (eastern corner). The idyllic whitewashed coastal villages of Crail, Pittenweem, Anstruther, Cellardyke, Elie and Lower Largo feature medieval Dutch-style cottages, tollbooth towers, churches, cobbled lanes and stone harbours lined with art galleries, seafood restaurants, ice-cream parlours and cosy pubs. The annual international East Neuk Festival is a feast of world-class classical music but there are other festivals throughout the summer, plus great beaches, funfairs, fresh lobster and the finest fish and chips in the UK (that's official).

“Fabulous cottage just like home from home.”

Reviewed 3 Jan 2017

Just back from spending the new year in this fab cottage it was so well equipped and done to a very high standard. Very cosy with fab views, the shower is the best we have ever had in a rental accommodation. Would definitely stay again and would recommend it to friends. Thank you very much for the wine and shortbread.

A delightful holiday cottage in a beautiful condition which catered for every need. Anstruther, with so many facilities and excellent restaurants, was within easy walking distance. Attention to detail was really appreciated, particularly the fresh milk, shortbread and bottle of wine supplied on arrival.

“Excellent holiday home - home from home in fab location”

Reviewed 9 Jul 2016

We all absolutely loved this perfect holiday home so much so we plan to return next summer if not sooner. It is very well equipped, spotlessly clean, cosy and so homely. The photos don't really give you the perspective of how roomy it is. The twin room that our boys shared was very spacious and gave the boys their 'own space'. We all fought to sit on the window seat which gives you a beautiful view over the sea. We loved sitting on the bench at the harbour which is just a few steps from the front door enjoying the ambience of a quaint fishing harbour. All you need to do is pack your suitcase and turn up for a truly great, peaceful and relaxing holiday. Highly recommended. The wine, shortbread and pint of milk on arrival was a lovely touch. Neil the owner was very helpful on booking and nothing was any trouble.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a kind review. We are very glad that you enjoyed your holiday at Shore Street - the window seat and the harbour bench are our favourite spots too. We look forward to welcoming you back again.
