Casa Serendipita`, so called because it was a lucky find nestling amongst the olive groves of Puglia. Conveniently situated almost exactly equi-distant (9Km) from the towns of Ostuni, Ceglie Messapica and San Vito dei Normanni, but with village shops, restaurants, facilities and a weekly Thursday market less than a kilometre away in San Michele Di Salentino, all needs can be catered for. A car is advisable to properly explore the area's historic towns, and to travel to the Adriatic coast (17Km), the Gulf of Taranto (40Km).
The property itself is located in it's own grounds of just over one hectare, which is planted with Olive, Almond and Fig. It consists of the original stone trullo and lamia that was, at some time in the past, extended with a bedroom and garage. There is ample space on the sunny, south-facing terrace for the table, chairs and sun loungers that are supplied. And, for the more energetic, outdoor games are provided. A mature almond tree, a covered pergola and umbrellas provide shade. Ideal for relaxing in the heat of the day or for al fresco dining!
Casa Serendipita` has one bedroom (a good sized double) with large wardrobe and chest of drawers and there is also a sofa bed in the lounge for additional guests if desired. The lounge with a separate dining area, is located in the oldest part of the building and has the high domed ceiling, thick stone walls and stone floor of the traditional trullo. It is equipped with TV, DVD/Video, radio/CD player, and a selection of board games and books to encourage the guests to linger. There is a traditional log fire: great for those cooler spring and autumn evenings and the property has central heating for winter.
The lamia contains a traditional tiled kitchen, well equipped and with a duel fuel cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer and washing machine. In the lamia there is also a modern shower room.
Taste the local wines and cuisine; explore historic towns and churches; enjoy the beaches and watersports and above all experience the warm welcome and famous hospitality of the Pugliese people.

The Puglia region
The region is famous for the traditional stone "trulli" with their conical or dome shaped roofs. Alberobello is the most famous town for them and is a world heritage site but you will see them all over Puglia. There are also the cave dwellings at Matera and varied architecture from hill top towns with their narrow medieval streets to the baroque buildings of which Lecce is the most famous.
Puglia is famous for its sunny climate which helps to produce its famous olives. The local wine is very nice too!
There are beaches on east, south and west facing coasts from rocky coves to sandy beaches and many harbours with nearby restaurants..
Ostuni is the famous "white city" sitting on a hill top overlooking the olive groves and the sea. It and other towns have narrow medieval streets with Romeo and Juliet balconies.
There is the Egnazia archealogical site near Fasano, Alberobello, and historic churches abound. Grotto de Castallana has caves.
Family amusements can be found at the Zoosafari Park at Fasano.
In the area there is golf, horseriding, cycle tracks, go karting, public swimming pools.
Cinemas are in San Vito Dei Normanni ,Caravigno & Ostuni.
There are many good local restaurants, specialising in seafood and local dishes.
Fresh local produce and clothing is available at the local weekly markets. Italian fashion can also be found in the many local shops and boutiques.
The area has sandy beaches and rocky coves, lidos or public free beaches.
Most big towns have a tourist information office which have details of the many local festivals and maps of the area.
