Located in rural countryside in the region of Alicante Villa Azzurra is an executive detached Spanish house sitting in it's own 2500sq mtr walled and electrically gated garden. It is part of a small development of only 69 properties all of which are well spaced to allow maximum privacy yet close enough to avoid a feeling of isolation. The villa lies on the outskirts of a small town called Catral which offers a wide range of shops, restaurants and everyday facilities. The nearest beach at La Marina is only 15 minutes drive away whilst the larger resorts of Guardamar and Torrievieja can be easily reached in 20 and 30 minutes respectively. Alicante airport is some 30 minutes drive to the north on non toll roads.
The villa itself offers all you will need for a short break or extended stay. The large kitchen is fitted with all white goods including dishwasher, wall mounted fan oven, ceramic hob, microwave, kettle and toaster. (The washing machine and tumble dryer are housed in a separate utility area) There is plenty of granite topped work surface and a double drainer sink. There are an extensive range of wall and floor cupboards containing all the crockery, cutlery and other dishes and utensils that you will need to cater for a party of 8 guests. The large Oak dining table will seat 8 guests in comfort whilst the living room offers seating for up to 10 guests in leather sofas and pedestal tub chairs. The living room is also equipped with a 42" LED flat screen TV offering all UK Free to view channels plus a range of other UK satellite channels and a CD, DVD and MP3 stereo system. There is also a second TV in the master bedroom.
All four bedrooms are double size although two are fitted with twin beds which can be linked together if required. All have fitted wardrobes and two have en-suite bathrooms (one with shower, one with bath) and a further family bathroom to serve the remaining two bedrooms.
Outside the gardens provide a great private space and set among the palm trees, orange trees and lemon tree is the 10 metre heated swimming pool. This is kept at a comfortable 25-30 degrees C from April until November each year. A large terrace surrounds the pool and there are 10 hotel style sunbeds plus seating areas for alfresco dining. There is also a solar shower on the terrace.
Essential for any Spanish house is the outdoor kitchen and barbeque area and Casa Azzurra boasts a fully covered and equipped kitchen and charcoal barbeque. There is a large teak dining table plus 8 chairs and plenty of preparation work surface and a single bowl sink. The area also has it's own toilet and wash hand basin. It is a fantastic place to spend lunchtimes and evenings with friends and really brings home the benefit of the climate.
There is plenty of parking for vehicles and also a covered car port area to keep both cars and contents cool in the hot summer sun.
For total private sun bathing and a drying area Casa Azzurra also has a solarium/roof terrace accessible via steps off the front porch.. From here you can see the mountains and the fantastic sunsets as well as bathing in the hot sun.

The Valenciana region
The region of Alicante is situated in the Costa Blanca south and offers some of the finest beaches in the whole of Spain. A short drive from Villa Azzurra will bring you to the town of La Marina. nestled between the larger resorts of Santa Pola and Guardamar, La Marina has some fine sandy beaches stretching for many hundreds of metres. Dotted along the coast are a plethora of beachside cafes and bars, ideal for stopping for lunch or simply for a "Cafe con leche" or cold cola. The town itself runs along the old coast road (N340) and has many restaurants, bars, shops and banks along it's length. The resorts of Guardamar and Torreavieja are also easily accessed from Villa Azzurra as is the massive and modern new shopping complex at Zenia Boulevard. From the railway station at Albetera you can board a high speed train for Alicante, Valencia or Cartajena and once there you can explore the facinating history of the Moors, Romans and the fantastic architecture they have left behind. Further inland are the mountains of the Hondon valley, these are visible from the villa. The whole area of Hondon is very Spanish and a meander through the winding roads and streets will give you a true flavour of Spanish rural life.
The area around Villa Azzurra is very rural and mainly comprises fruit bearing orange, lemon and lime trees and date palms. The small development of 69 executive villas is situated in the midst of this farming community and within easy reach of Parc Natural El Fondó a wetland area of outstanding natural beauty. The town of Catral is based around agriculture and offers a true Spanish feel in it's architecture and facilities. There are plenty of bars, restaurants and cafe's plus all the usual banks, post office, medical centre and school facilities that you would expect from a working town. It is very pleaseant to sit in the square with the church behind you at a small cafe and listen to the locals carrying out their business in spanish tongue. Further afield is the major local town of Elche which was once the centre of the regional palm forrest. There are still many palm parks in Elche plus the modern benefits of large supermarkets and other stores. Elche Old Town is worth a visit and it is easy to waste an afternoon walking its winding streets down by the river.
