Getting around

The roads are amazingly quiet and stunningly beautiful at any time of the year. The motorway provides a fast track option, from and to the airports, but even these roads are very quiet and very simple to navigate. Driving here is a pleasure, but you can always hop on one of our bicycles as an alternative way to explore the countryside.

Interaction with guest

We are here to meet and greet our guests, to introduce them the property and answer any questions they may have. We always available should they need us during their stay. We provide our guests with lots of useful information upon arrival. Tips on things not to be missed, advise on places to discover, and the all important practical stuff. We believe It is that kind of personal touch and interaction that has helped us achieved such a high percentage of happy, returning guests.

“A little piece of paradise”

Reviewed 7 Jul 2014

A wonderful Villa that has everything and more you could possibly need. A beautiful setting with amazing views. Excellent facilities with well stocked kitchens that have every utensil you could ever want or need. Fantastic BBQ's and outside seating areas including hammocks. Lovely pool with lots of comfortable loungers. All our rooms were beautifully decorated with brilliant ensuite bathrooms always with plenty of hot water. The Villas came complete with DVDs and games but as there is so much to do there was little time to play. The grounds and fabulous and feeding the animals was a real highlight. The owners Michaela and Nigel could not have been more friendly and helpful with their suggestions and recommendations of what to do. I would highly recommend the Villas to everyone and we have already booked our return trip. Just BRILLIANT!

“Fabulous stay in Alentejo”

Reviewed 11 Jun 2014

Wonderful, spotless cottage with great views and great pool. Way above standard of other villas/cottages we have stayed at in Portugal. Owners really helpful and pointed out best places to eat, unbelievable off the beaten track quality and value. Oranges from their own grove for freshly squeezed orange juice. Although location peaceful and rural you can walk into Castro Verde easily and there is s good choice of places to eat and have a drink. Very friendly too.

Owner's reply: So glad you enjoyed your Holiday so much. The Alentejo is always full of surprises and you get to take home wonderful memories. We hope to see you again soon.

“Fantastic place, welcoming and would return in a flash”

Spacious, clean and very well situated villa in a lovely town. The swimming pool was a welcomed break from the warm sunshine, while the restaurants in the town (which are well within walking distance) were all very good standard. The villa itself is fully equipped with the home comforts you would expect with an amazing powerful shower. Great place to go for a relaxing break. Activites close by include quad biking round a vineyard and of course the vast amounts of golf courses on offer in Portugal. Wine tasting is also available close by. This is my third stay in this property and I will most certainly be going back.

Owner's reply: Glad you were able to make the most of your stay at Monte a Quinta. There are so many activities on offer for all ages and interests. A stunning landscape and backdrop in which to pursue your dreams.

“Peace and Tranquility in the Portuguese sunshine”

We have just retuned from a fantastic week in Monte Da Quinta, Castro Verde. This was our 3rd visit to Monte Da Quinta- we returned for the great location, beautiful scenery and the truly fantastic hospitality we had recieved on both previous visits to Castro Verde - we were definitely not disappointed. The Casa's were as beautiful as ever, the weather was very nice indeed which made the pool a delight and Nigel and Michaela's hospitality was as ever second to none. If you are looking for a very high standard visit to a very scenic part of rural Portugal then Monte Da Quinta is well worth a visit- you can take advantage of all the activities in the area (quad biking, wine tasting, goldf in the Algarve is <1hour away) or you can relax in the sunshine by the pool. Overall we all had a fantastic holiday and look forward to returning to Monte Da Quinta again in the near future!

Owner's reply: We were please to welcome you back for your third stay with us at Monte da Quinta. You picked a great time of year to check out the landscape on Moto Quads and a spot of golf. Hope to see you all next year, all the best. M

“Excellent holiday at Monte da Quinta”

Reviewed 26 Apr 2014

We stayed here in April, 4 of us for a week. Michaella and Nigel met us when we arrived and we're very welcoming hosts. We stayed in the 3 bed villa which was lovely. The bedrooms were very big, clean and are done out as the rest of the villa to a very high standard. Monte da Quinta is a working farm and is gorgeous. There are pigs, goats, geese, chickens and 3 horses. It was really relaxing having a walk around, feeding the pigs with our left overs and then having a walk to the Nora which dates back to Roman times. Then there is the swimming pool just outside the 2 villas. It's very relaxing and very refreshing. Castro Verde is a lovely town with a few bars and restaurants. Everyone was very friendly and we didn't have one bad meal over our week stay. Michaella and Nigel are also very happy to recommend some good places to go where us tourists wouldn't even think of going. The food and drink is so cheap (about 1 euro a beer). There are also so many other places (toany to lisy) to go to if you fancy a trip out in the car. Overall a great holiday and very relaxing. I would 100% return here and am already planning my next trip.

Owner's reply: Glad you enjoyed your first stay with us at Monte da Quinta. We are so happy that you were able to see the real Portugal. Sampling the local dishes in some of the lesser known restaurants and walking to some of the local bars and cafes for coffee and pastries. We look forward to welcoming you back. Ate Breve.

“Perfect place, we had a wonderful time”

Reviewed 21 Aug 2013

We very much enjoyed our stay. We loved the house, it is beautifully furnished and very well maintained. The garden is beautiful and so very quiet. The swimming pool makes this place even more perfect. Michaela is very, very kind and helpful. She offered lemons and oranges from the garden and fresh eggs every day. Also very positive is the short distance to the village. It is easily to walk to the village to get your fresh bread in the morning or go for dinner in the evening. Without any doubt we can recommend this place. Michaela and Nigel we wish you all the best and, once again, thanks for the wonderful week.

Owner's reply: It was wonderful to welcome you back to Monte da Quinta this year. So glad you enjoyed your second holiday here. Hope to see you again soon. x

“Loved it, recommend it, try it. It will not disappoint and l will go again.”

I really enjoyed my short stay at Casa Laranjeira and would have no problem recommending it. The owners Michaella and Nigel were very hospitable and provided us very kindly with some home produces. They have a beautiful setup, as they are a working place with a holding of animals and land and l believe done in the old Portuguese ways without being harmful to crops/animals and land. The accommodation was well equiped and thought out, everything, down to the wfi. They made sure we felt welcomed and were on hand should we need help yet discreet to allow us to enjoy our stay. Lovely and knowledgeable to chat to. I would sincerely recommend you try it out. Of course there is the beautiful area of Castro Verde/Alentejo/Cork oaks. Thank you For having us.

Owner's reply: Thank you for taking the time to write a fabulous review on our property. So glad you enjoyed your stay here at Monte da Quinta and hope to welcome you both back soon. Obrigada M

“The most relaxing and scenic location I have ever experienced.”

Reviewed 28 May 2012

We have recently returned from our second visit to Casa Laranjeira and it is still as idyllic as I remember. 2 Beautiful Portuguese farm houses that have been superbly renovated to a very high standard with their own (very refreshing)pool and a superb view over the local countryside. With plenty of room for 6 people Casa Laranjeira is a fantastic location for a relaxing break with family or friends. As it is a working farm there are also plenty of opportunities to familiarise yourself with the animals! Castro Verde itself is a small Portuguese town, with all the amenities you need; whilst retaining a very local look and feel. There are a couple of excellent restaurants, a couple of local bars to enjoy your evenings, and even a local nightclub if you are feeling particularly adventurous. There are not many English speaking locals, but actually this adds a lot to the character of the town. We took advantage of some very quiet roads and enjoyed a number of local trips and activities; these included the waterparks, plenty of golf, quad biking, wine tasting, as well as 2 trips to the West coast of Portugal to an amazing beach (with a very nice fish restaurant) and another trip to a local lake with a man-made beach. (Very popular with locals.) As hosts Nigel and Michaela were fantastic- happy to help in any way they could (including support for the language if you get stuck!). Overall this is a fantastic location for a relaxing break and I could not recommend it highly enough.
