The County Londonderry region

This is an area recognised for it's outstanding beauty. Downhill Demense is a short walk from the house, great to walk through the ruins of the Bishop's House and down to the Mussenden Temple to enjoy the panaromic views of the coastline. An enjoyable walk is from the Demense or through Bishop's Gate via the Black's Glen into Castlerock.

Bineveagh, Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) with its dramatic cliffs and amazing views is perfect for enthusiastic walkers. A view point can be reached by car for those not so keen or able to hike.

The property is the perfect base to discover the famous Causeway Coast. It is short drive to the Giants Causeway, Dunluce Castle, Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge, Whitepark Bay, Bushmills Distillery as well as many other attractions.

The market towns of Coleraine and Limavady are both a short drive away, offering great shopping experiences.

The historical walled City of Derry is also a recommended place to visit. An ideal way to reach the City is by the Coleraine to Londonderry train, it passes beneath the Mussenden Temple on a coast-hugging journey described by travel expert Michael Palin as 'one of the most beautiful in the world'

From Magillian Point you can take a short ferry accross the Foyle to Greencastle where you can discover the beautiful coast of Inishowen, Co. Donegal.

The region offers a number of excellent restaurants, coffee shops and bars.

Much of the food served in the Causeway Coast will have been raised, caught and grown locally. Traditional recipes are very much to the fore, but expect the district’s accomplished chef’s to serve up their own contemporary twists. Many restaurants specialise in seafood harvested from the local waters. Local lamb, beef, pork and poultry is amongst the best anywhere, and is featured on most menus. Look out for the district’s many Home Bakeries with their mouth watering traditional breads and cakes!
