Trip Advisor Travellers Choice Winner 2017

Tara Lodge is an award winning detached, 4 bedroom holiday lodge located on the outskirts of the beautiful rural and seaside village of Castlerock, in County Derry/Londonderry, which itself nestles on the shores of a stunning Beach, overlooked by historical Mussenden Temple & Downhill Castle. Tara Lodge has been beautifully furnished and decorated with high quality items, and is perfect for any party looking for a rural and seaside getaway. Excellent for those golfers wishing to access the best links golf courses on the North Coast. Guests of Tara Lodge get a special discount to play the Castlerock Links Golf course. Just send us a message & we can organise it for you.

The beautiful modern fixtures and furnishings have been combined with traditional pieces to create a truly beautiful holiday lodge. There is solid wooden flooring and a reclaimed brick inglenook fireplace housing a cosy wood burner in the living room, while the high spec kitchen offers solid oak work surfaces, enhanced by an antique dresser with solid oak worktop. For those coffee connoisseurs there is a De Longhi Espresso Coffee Machine. There are 2 bedrooms on the ground floor one with en-suite and a large bathroom with separate shower. Upstairs there are 2 further bedrooms and a beautiful shower room. The upstairs double bedroom also has its own lounge area for relaxing and chilling out. The outside area is perfect for alfresco dining.

Curl up in front of the cosy open fire, make the most of the decking areas and enjoy freshly made coffee whilst taking in the fresh sea air. Sure to entice and delight even the most discerning of visitors.

Getting around

The best way to see many the sites n the North Coast is by Car. The train also stops in the village giving access to the historical city of Derry in Co Londonderry and to the South is the City of Belfast. As well as the train stop, you can also pick up a bus in the village to travel all around the North Coast and more. Michael Palin described the railway line between Derry and Coleraine as “one of the most beautiful rail journeys in the world” — and he may just have a point. There is parking at Tara lodge for 2 cars. There's also a bus service in the village.

Interaction with guest

While we try to meet our guests its not always possible. I'm only ever a phone call or email away. Our housekeeper Phyllis lives in the village & she's always happy to help. Check out our website for "Things to do". Entry to Tara Lodge is by way of a key code box. You'll be provided with the code & instructions about 2 weeks prior to arrival together with directions and other information by way of an email pack.

“Fantastic holiday in a beautiful location”

Reviewed 14 Sep 2014

A fantastic holiday rental with everything you could ever need (and more!) in a stunning location. Fantastic beaches, walks and attractions all within walking distance of the house. Highlights of the trip included: helicopter rides along the North Coast, dolphin watching, seeing series 5 of Game of Thrones being filmed and visiting the Giants Causeway. Would highly recommend a day trip to Londonderry on the train, a fantastic journey along the coast to visit the 2013 Capital of Culture (the open top bus tour is something you should not miss).

Owner's reply: Hi Elaine Thank you for completing a review of your stay at Tara Lodge. Delighted you enjoyed the helicopter ride over Mussenden Temple & the North Coast. Its a real treat. The North Coast is utilized by Games of Thrones to film the series.Glad you got to see this, amazing!!! Hopefully you & you're family will be back at Tara Lodge soon. Regards Diane
