Description from owner

Description

Possibly the next best thing to The Orient Express. Our accomodation is in a beautifully converted 1957 railway carriage. The two ensuite bedrooms are superbly decorated and very comfortable. The galley area is well equipped with all the facilities you might expect. The lounge area has two couches, flat screen TV, Internet access and outstanding views over the local countryside.
The location is ideal for walkers, mountain bikers, golfers, anglers or anyone looking for an entirely restful break. The carriage is located in the old station yard which is now all grass and is perfect for children and pets - which are most welcome at no extra charge.

“a special holiday rental you could live in!”

Reviewed 14 Apr 2019

just had a fab week in the carriage, it was a home from home for us, with all the comforts we could desire - warm and cosy, with a big shower, and double aspect views in almost every room! We like to park up and walk with our dog, who is lazy when he feels like it, so this location was good, with walks just a short drive in all directions, such as the threave estate, nature reserves, castle douglas and doach wood - we followed a quick path found on the side of the road and found the fairytale gelston castle - well worth a look. The carriage owners were available if need be, and sorted out the dvd player quickly for us when needed - you can even book a cooked breakfast if you fancy a treat!

Owner's reply: Thanks for your kind remarks and really glad you enjoyed it so much. Hope we see you again in the future.

We had a lovely weekend at the carriage with our dogs. Place is fab. Well equipped self catering. 3 excellent bedrooms. Place was spotless. The garden was great for dog, although not fully enclosed. There is lots to do in the surrounding area for adults and children. Mossyard Beach is a 15 min drive and a lovely little place. Both of us said we would come back in the Summer to make use of the decking and bbq. Would def recommend The Train Carriage.
