At first glance you could be forgiven for thinking that Larch House looks like a standard barn conversion; A stone building, sitting in the grounds of a Galloway farm, but this is truly out of the ordinary. I think 'Wow', every time I walk through the door. The sense of space and light is instantly calming.
Larch House is set in the heart of Galloway's great outdoors just 3 miles from Castle Douglas with it's fine shops, galleries, cafes and eateries.
It is a perfect base for the many mountain bike trails in the area and for road cycling. There is secure storage for your sports equipment and mountain bike guiding is available with a qualified local guide.
The area is littered with fine golf courses, beaches, lochs and rivers to fish and there are excellent outdoor centres nearby.
This is a great house for family gatherings or just a bunch of friends to get together.

Larch house has been built to an exacting standard in a contemporary style but keeping the essence of rural living, off the beaten track but within 2 miles of the euro route. It benefits from a south facing aspect and has a light open plan feel to the main living area. It has a great deal of ecological aspects including solar panels to heat the water, under floor heating from the log burner and the whole house is super insulated. All these eco measures have been used without compromising luxury living.
Egyptian cotton has been used throughout for the bedding and towels and goose down duvets .
All appliances are brand new.
We think Larch House offers stylish, luxurious and cosy accommodation for families or groups of friends keen to explore this unique landscape.

As this is a newly finished project, the garden is still work in progress but is a lovely open private space with lots of potential for play and relaxing. A burbling stream runs through the back garden.
We can arrange reduced rates for couples at off peaks times.
The Dumfries and Galloway region
Dumfries and Gallloway has so much to offer it's visitors especially outdoor activities, arts and entertainment.
There are many outstanding gardens, castles and other ancient monuments as the area has a diverse and interesting history.
There is Castle Douglas nearby, the designated 'food town', and the 'Artist Town', of Kirkcudbright a few miles on.
It is home to five of the famous Seven Stanes mountain bike trails and was described by the IMBA (International Mountain Bike Association), in 2010, as the best place in the world to mountain bike.
It also has a fantastic network of quiet country roads that make it one of the best areas in the UK for road cycling.
For the astronomers, the Forestry Commission Scotland has established part of the nearby Galloway Forest Park as the first Dark Sky Park in the UK.
Many of the areas attractions can be found on this website.
Nestling between the Galloway hills and forests to the north and the sweeping beaches of the Solway Firth to the south, the historic market town of Castle Douglas has always been at the heart of local agricultural and commercial life.
Today the town continues to flourish and is always busy with people visiting the many independent and speciality shops.

Four adults , four children and two springer spaniels had a fantastic week in this beautiful property. Whole property is finished to a high standard, kitchen is great for cooking and the living room/ dining area is huge with plenty of room for everybody. Bedrooms are comfortable and the bathrooms are just as nice.Surrounding area is lovely, roads around property are empty and great for running. Can not describe the beautiful views you can see from both sides of the house . Many thanks to Stuart for his friendly welcome ( and return of a forgotten iPod).
