Semi-detached new barn conversion cottage in a very quiet area. The cottage sleeps 5 comfortably but could sleep 6 with a fold up bed which could be put in, if asked in advance. The kitchen is fully equiped and has a dining table which seats 6. Comfortable lounge with an arm-chair and 2 sofas. Full central heating included in the price. The cottage has beautiful uninterupted views of the surrounding countryside and has a parking space for 2/3 cars. The cottage is part of a courtyard with ongoing development at the moment which when finished will really give extras to the property.

Dumfries and Galloway is a beautiful unspoiled area which boasts many sandy beaches; a variety of golf courses; superb walking country in the Galloway Hills and a wealth of coastal walks. There are many other outdoor activities available in the local area including horse-riding: sailing: the Seven Stanes mountain biking tracks: grass sledging: clay pigeon shooting and off-road tank driving.

The town of Castle Douglas is 6 miles away from us and is a delightful small town with a growing reputation for its unique shopping experince which has been featured regionally on television broadcasts. It also has a number of restuarants and take-away food outlets, and has its own library and swimming pool.

Castle Douglas

Castle Douglas is an 18th century market town that is also a designated Food Town with lots of local produce.

There are around 50 local businesses in Castle Douglas that either produce or sell quality food and drink. The town is a thriving centre for prosperous local farming. The Stewartry Agricultural Show is an annual event that takes place nearby.

Beside Castle Douglas is Carlingwark Loch, dotted with islands and great for boating and learning to sail and picnicking. At the far end of the loch are Threave Gardens, open to visitors all year.

On an island in the River Dee stands 14th century Threave Castle, the great fortress of the Douglases, which can be reached by ferry. Nearby is Threave Wildfowl Refuge, an important place for wintering wildfowl, where visitors can watch the birds from hides.

If you enjoy walking Castle Douglas has numerous walks to do and enjoy, with over 200 miles of unspoilt coastline to explore, you'll discover stunning cliff-top walks or leisurely strolls along sandy beaches. Miles and miles of forest trails under natural canopies, gentle slopes or rugged hikes to the top of hills and mountains reward you with spectacular views.
