Description

The charming estate of Borgo Tranquiitta is surrounded by wooded hills of olives and bucolic charm that surround it like a natural garden enclosing the village in beautiful countryside with extended views of the valley and beyond.

Here are three, lovely detached cottages lovingly restored providing a great place for a family holiday,..

Il Sole, (Sunshine) Cottage is suitable for 3-4guests. The cottage has two bedrooms (one double, a second with either a single or bunk beds), a kitchen and dining area, sitting room and bathroom. It has has a private terrace for 'al fresco' dining, and the pool is just a stroll away.

The tiny hamlet's large communal crystal swimming pool has been idyllically positioned to enjoy the splendid views.

Each cottage has a small barbecue, however there is also a large stone "pizza oven" available. If you have seen some of Jamie Oliver's programs, you will have seen he uses this type of oven to cook

Castiglion Fiorentino is about 8 kms. which is midway between the historic towns of Arezzo and Cortona. Lake Trasimeno with its pretty beaches is within easy driving distance.

From here you can relax, unwind and enjoy the lovely scenery - or, there are day excursions to Cortona, Arezzo, Montepulcinao, Pienza, Assisi and more. Wine is a famous Tuscan export and you can use some of your time here to explore the many vineyards or go on a wine tour (In English, French, Danish, German) and enjoy some of the superior wines Tuscany has to offer. Other activities in the area are cooking classes, truffle hunting and numerous festivals throughout the year.

The property sits on one of the hillsides overlooking the historic Val di Chio and is accessed by a white road. The beauty of the location is the peace and quiet along with the views, the sunsets and, if you are here during mid August, San Lorenzo's evening of shooting stars will entertain you too!

(The cottages can be rented individually or for a larger group of say, 12 guests when a large communal dining/sitting room is also available for all guests plus an additional bathroom).

“Looking forward to next time”

Reviewed 28 Jul 2015

We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday at Borgo Tranquillita. It is the perfect place to stay whether you use it as a base for travelling the eastern part of Tuscany or just for a relaxing time at the top of picturesque hill. Lots of space around the three cottages, the perfect place for our dog. lots of privacy for ourselves. The cottage is clean and comfortable, the kitchen has got everything it needs - basics, no fuss - , the Wi-Fi works. The pool is just a few steps away from the cottage and we spent a lot of time just there catching up on some books and relaxing. But we also made a few day trips to places like Cortona, Arezzo, Gubbio and Florence which can also easily be reached by car. Taking the train to Florence is more comfortable though. There are also a couple of nice restaurants in Castiglion Fiorentino - namely Il Passagio and Pietro are well worth a visit. Thanks to the owner and Terry in particular who were very friendly and obliging. We felt at home from day 1. This a the perfect place to unwind and we wouldn´t hesitate to return, we loved it! Until next time...

First thanks to Rosino for a warm welcome to our family and the extra help they gave us with our plans and tours. Plus the nice touches of fresh fruit, olive oil and one when we arrived - all very kind. the cottage with its two bedrooms was perfect for our young family. THe large sitting room good for a quiet spot for us to relax or watch TV and good wifi coverage. Outside we enjoyed the large gardens and the long walk trails, THe pool shared but large and lots of pergolas for each cottage and privacy. From the moment we arrived, Hans and Jon headed for the pool - (we followed !) and enjoyed the first splash and relaxation. But, this cottage was a good home and we used it too to explore the area. THe most memorable time - the weekend of the Palo in Castiglion Fiorneitno - plus the medieval show, flags thrown into the air, drums, and fireworks, A long but wonderful family day. We also discovered Arezzo - a very interesting and not so tourist place. Plus with help from Rosino tickets to see the David in Florence (we went by train - easy and cheap). An easy and happy place. Thanks

Take three children and introduce them to Italy..... One week touring around the Amalfi and the other in Tuscany. Here we had our "real" family vacation and enjoyed this country retreat with its pool and long views. The cottage was pleasant, clean and full of character. Good kitchen facilities and each cottage has its own barbecue. There are also long walks around the property which we enjoyed exploring. Closest rshop/ restaurant about 2 miles. A great family restaurant ranging from pizza to the local florentine steaks. The biggest thrill was the Palio of Castiglion . Pageantry and chaos. All very colorflul and great fun for all of us. The race took 6 false starts before judges were called in to decide the winner! Another day we had a pre booked truffle trail/cooking class here (near Citte castelli) a half day course, all of us enjoyed this. We also explored Cortona and Pienza - but decided the cottage an pool was the best place to be... We enjoyed our time and a big thanks to the owner for taking good care of us (espically organizing the truffle tour)

“great family vacation, lots to do and see”

This was a last minute family vacation, and we wanted to be in the Tuscan countryside and to experience some of the places we read about in the Tuscan Sun book. The cottage La Stelle was perfect for the four of us for the ten days ( we included the small anex/studio in addition for our eldest son when he joined us for 5 days). The cottages are oldie worldie and fun. Clean, comfortable and well planned. A great place for us to experience Tuscany. The outside gardens are mainly olive trees and shrubs with summer plants in terracotta pots. The stone oven was used several times for us to make pizza (well, we actually used it to re-heat pizza we bought earlier in the afternoon but, it was fun trying).,... The pool was welcome - even though a little cool, and the views of the surrounding countryside were almost perfect. The wifi was great too, enough bandwidth for our busy family and numerous calls on the net. In the valley below, we found a great cooking class for two of us. We created a perfect lunch from scratch and the family joined us later to try our efforts. As for sight seeing, we all enjoyed Cortona - and Pienza. The wine country around Montelpulcinao and Chianti was also very enjoyable, but the real gem was Arezzo. We really loved this place. The closest restaurant to the cottage, 3 km was great, but we preferred the recommendations of our host to go to Passagio and Antica Pieve. Gret value and helpful waiters. We enjoyed our experience and can easily recommend it. The warmth and hospitality offered by the owner and his English speaking help was very welcome and the tips and suggestions worked out great. One small downside was the road to the cottage, a little bumpy in places, but that was the first day.
