Description from owner

Description

Villa Al Mandorlo (x 11 people) - Spotted from a distance, Villa Al Mandorlo looks exactly as a Tuscan farmhouse should, and as though it had been there forever, peaceful and solid. That image heightens as one approaches through the properties private vineyards and olive groves, emerging into a pretty lawned garden studded with old trees and potted plants.

A swimming pool, invisible from the valley, is virtually the only hint of the 21st century, and sets the tone for the interior of the building. The decoration throughout is discreetly contemporary, with a sprinkling of lovely antiques and traditional elements in every room, including the kitchen, the bedrooms and each of the six en-suite bathrooms.

Light floods though the enlarged windows and French doors that open to a terrace and a dining loggia. The views are lovely, sweeping over the famously rolling hills of the Chianti. Secluded but not remote, Villa Al Mandorlo lies within a short drive of Siena and many villages,

Location:

The Chianti Classico wine-producing region is bisected by a beautiful, winding road known as the Chiantigiana, which serves as a meandering link between Florence and Siena. Villa Al Mandorlo lies 1.5km/1 mile off this road, 20 minutes north of Siena and 1 hour south of Florence. There are countless villages, wineries and castles between the two, including Pianella, 5 minutes, which provides the nearest shops, Gaiole, 14km/9 miles, and Castellina-in-Chianti, 16km/10 miles, the latter both medieval with long histories of wine-making.

Location description from owner

The Tuscany region

Siena: just a few miles away from the wine producing regions of Chianti and Montalcino, and from the historic towns of San Gimigniano, Pienza, Montepulciano, Monteriggioni, and San Quirico d'Orcia, Siena is ideal for artistic and gourmet tourism in all seasons.Siena is built across a range of small hills, a unique position which gives it a pleasant atmosphere of being a collection of smaller towns. Since the thirteenth century it has been divided into three terzi, arranged around the splendid Campo.

These terzi are in turn subdivided into contrade, seventeen in all, which play a hugely important role in the life of the city. If you come here in August don't miss the Palio - a horse race in the center of town. Even better Siena is just fifty minutes by bus or car from Florence.

“very nice place in tuscany”

Reviewed 5 May 2013

The ancient residence immersed in the Tuscan countryside, is a special and beautifull place, surrounded by an incredible landscape with vineyards and olive trees, there is also a nice pool. The house is furnished with great taste and antique furniture, is very well equipped with everything also for the children, who can play in the open air without danger. The owner, Mrs. Patrizia is really very nice and helpful for everything you need, she is also a good cook, on demand she organizes courses in traditional Italian cuisine. Everithing was perfect... will be back!
