The Lot valley is set in a beautiful unspoilt countryside, with a lovely warm climate, you can visit the many chateaux, and taste the local wine and food. Numerous antique markets, bastide towns dating from the 100 Years' War and charming villages.

The Midi-Pyrénées region
The Lot Valley is a charming area of rural France, with many attractions for it's visitors. There are some lovely old towns such as Figeac and the spectacular "hanging villages" of St.Cirq-Lapopie and Calvignac.
The area boasts of some impressive prehistoric sites among them the caves of Pech Merles with ir's paintings of horses and mammoths.
Also and amazing wildlife is to be found, myriads of butterflies and birds, and a spectacular variety of plants, especially orchids. However it wouldn't be complete description without a word about it's gastronomy: truffels/cepes/fois gras/duck/goat cheese and the good Cahors wine.
Castelnau-Montratier is very close to Cahors in the South West of France, is a town of many delights, you are spoilt for choice, of what to see and do.
Cahors is a medieval city, it has a Gallo Roman section, a splendid cathedral.
It is the centre for shopping, for all the surrounding areas, not to mention the many cafes and restaurant, and the excellent wine and food.

"Perfect place .."
Do you feel work breathing down your neck? Then a trip to Castelnau-Montratier at Lise Othmars townhouse the ideal place to relaxe! You step out of everyday stress and enters a world that calms your mind down in the probably 200 years old house equipped with its modern facilities. When you wake up in the bedroom at the "top" - looking at the valley below you feel alive and ready to jump out of bed and go to the nearby bakery for croissant and “Danes”. The surrounding area is one big recreation area. I was there for six days and went running three times and had all kinds of terrain to chose from ranging from forest to wineyard . Near Lise’s house is a small ‘path’ called ‘Clary’ which is a slope down towards the valley. If you follow it, you are on your way to a healthy nice walk in the French Midi-Pyrénées and you will feel 10 years younger on your return. Jesper Sørensen

"Fantastic holiday - would highly recommend!"
My partner and I had a wonderful holiday at Lise's perfectly restored townhouse in August 2012. It is beautifully furnished and decorated with antiques similar to those she sells downstairs in her shop, and has a fabulous view over the valley from the terrace - where we had breakfast, lunch and dinner almost everyday. The kitchen is well equipped with modern appliances and pretty much everything you need. Lise is a great host, very friendly and welcoming and has great stories from her travels - she made us feel completely at home, even inviting us over to share a bottle of wine with her one evening. We loved being able to use the beautiful pool, and did so regularly in the 40+ degree heat! The village has 2 restaurants, one of which is particularly good, and Sunday and Weds markets (in the summer) which stock great seasonal fruit and veg. Bring earplugs if you are visiting in mid summer, as with the windows open (no aircon) the traffic noise from the street can be quite loud! Would definitely recommend!

"Pragtfuldt indrettet byhus"

"A dream come true!"
My partner, brother and sister- in- law and I spent 7 wonderful days staying at Lise's beautiful accommodation in Castelnau Montratier. We were warmly greeted by Lise with a welcoming smile and a bottle of Champagne in hand! The house had 3 levels and each couple had their own beautifully decorated bedroom and bathroom. The house was filled with all necessary appliances and a bowl of fresh fruit on the table. Our view from the living area overlooked the beautiful countryside of the South of France and each morning we all would sit on the balcony with our coffee and admire and appreciate the spectacular views. The location of the house was a 2 minute walk to the town square where numerous restaurants are available for meals or a glass of wine whilst you watch the daily activities unfold in the village. There is a bakers shop next door to the house with fresh baguettes and mouth watering pasteries waiting to be sampled each day!. The location of the village allowed us to travel to neighbouring villages and visit markets, local stores and emerge ourselves into the french style of living. We will definitely return to Castelnau Montratier and would highly recommend anyone who would like to experience the warmth and hospitality of the south to visit and stay at Lise's beautiful accommodation. Thank you again for making a dream come true!. Toni Melbourne Australia May, 2011
