“A dream come true”

Reviewed 6 Jul 2013

Three of our four children- who lived in the UK - their partners and my husband and I booked Domaine Estaviale for Christmas last year. This is perhaps one of the most beautiful properties that we have stayed in -especially for a large family with adult children who love to cook. The house itself is a huge sprawling farmhouse with all of the accoutrements that you expect in a farmhouse in France - a beautiful fireplace, terracotta floors, comfortable sofas, and an extremely well equipped kitchen- perfect for cooking our Christmas lunch. There was enough room for all of us to spend time together or escape for a quiet moment with a book and a glass of red wine. The dining room was perfect for Christmas and we decorated the table with found objects from the property. Our children loved the grounds where they could take photos, play boules or just ramble around the property. The bedrooms are beautifully furnished, warm and comfortable. A word of caution- beware of the shutters on the outside of the living area and ensure that they are firmly closed when you go out to explore the neighbouring villages. We were in for a nasty shock when we returned to find a broken pane of glass which we had to pay for. Also, be careful of the heating bill in winter. I suggest that you do not turn all of the heaters on as again on our first night we discovered that we had used a great deal of oil which was quite expensive. Heat only the areas that you need to. Firewood for the open fire is also extra.
