“Perfect place to explore western Sicily”

Reviewed 23 Oct 2012

My husband and I stayed in Castellammarre del Golfo for a week in October this year (2012). It was a perfect place to start our Sicily holiday and a great location to explore western Sicily. We easily visited Trapani, Erice, Marsala, Segusta and Palermo on day trips. The highways are excellent so the travel to these places are easily done in a day. The apartment was in a great location in Castellammarre del Golfo, was spotlessly clean when we arrived and was very comfortable (including a good mattress). There was good internet and the kitchen had everything we needed. Our host met us at the apartment when we arrived and showed us around. He was very helpful and friendly, speaking excellent English. There are good maps of the area in the apartment. A tip for breakfast, turn left out of the apartment and walk up to the Millenium Cafe for an excellent cappicino and pastry (try the yummy cassatedde)! There is also a fantastic pizza restaurant just around the corner and wonderful gelato places everywhere. We had a wonderful time here and loved western Sicily. The food on this side of the island was our favourite of the whole holiday.

“Superb value, Spotless Apartment”

Reviewed 9 Aug 2012

We have recently returned after spending a wonderful week in Castellammare del Golfo. This apartment provided us with the perfect base from which to enjoy the area. The pictures on the website are a true reflection of what the property has to offer, if anything they undersell its merits. When we arrived we found the apartment to be immaculate. Every room and every surface was spotlessly clean - something that immediately put us at ease and allowed us to feel comfortable. Prior to our arrival we found Sergio (the owner) to be extremely easy to deal with and he couldn't have been more accommodating throughout this process. His father picked us up from the airport in Palermo and drove us to the apartment. He gave us a quick tour of the property and then we were left to our own devices. We immediately discovered that the apartment had all the facilities and utensils we needed (including very good wifi!). It is located about an eight-minute walk from the centre of the town and the harbour/marina. The walk to the centre is downhill with the return uphill (obviously!) but nothing too challenging. There is a pebble beach at the town centre which is a little small but if you are willing to go a little further (15-min walk) you will find the magnificent Spiaggia Playa. This is a sandy beach that stretches for miles with little beach clubs dotted along the length of the beach where you can hire sunbeds, parasols and eat lunch etc. We returned to this beach many times during our stay and absolutely loved it! Overall in terms of the apartment, we had a great stay here and would highly recommend it to anyone. The owners (Sergio and his father Nicola) were tremendous to deal with and they couldn't do enough for us. The apartment is supremely clean with all the facilities you could need and within walking distance to town centre and beaches. There is a lovely balcony where we spent many hours sipping local wine and enjoying the climate. All of this for a VERY reasonable price.

“Ideal base for holiday in the north west”

Reviewed 6 Aug 2012

Best bits: Location - brilliant base for both walking around Castellammare del Golfo and easy access to main roads for travelling by car, lots of good restaurants/local shops nearby Parking - easy on street outside (particularly at certain times of day e.g. during siesta) Facilities - all you could want in the kitchen for cooking a few meals during a holiday; excellent shower Outdoor balcony full length of apartment with views of mountains + table/chairs Good value for money Very swift and informative responses from owner via email; welcoming on arrival. Ideal for a couple. Not so good bits: Noisy at night (cars/scooters) if bedroom balcony doors open (air con in other room useful though) Stairs could be difficult for some people (not a problem for us).
