The territory of the region, which is part of Italy's island, consists almost entirely of the same name from the island, the largest island in Italian and Mediterranean cuisine and the remaining part is formed by the islands of the Aeolian Islands, the Egadi and Pelagie, Pantelleria and Ustica .
It is the largest region of Italy (25,711 km ²) and its territory is divided into nine provinces, whose capitals are: Agrigento, Caltanissetta, Catania, Enna, Messina, Palermo, Ragusa, Siracusa, Trapani.

The oldest human traces found on the island is dated to 12,000 BC about. Around 750 BC, Sicily became a Greek colony and in the next 600 years it was the main battlefield of the wars greek-Punic and Roman-Punic, which ended with the destruction of Carthage by Rome. After the fall of the Roman Empire in the fifth century, Sicily was a land of conquest, and during the High Middle Ages was subject to the Vandals, the Ostrogoths, Byzantines, Arabs and Normans, was born in the Kingdom of Sicily, lasted from 1130 to 1816, subject to the crown of Aragon in Spain, the Holy Roman Empire and, finally, the Bourbons (later Kingdom of the Two Sicilies). “Truly a home away from home”

Reviewed 18 Jul 2013

What a perfect name to describe this property!!!?.. This home is undoubtedly authentic Sicily, and undeniably charming, as is the property's owner, whom we are quite fond of- Corrado. I spent a most memorable and truly sensational week at this fantastic country farmhouse, with my husband and two young children, 6 and 8. I would absolutely recommend this property to anyone who is looking for a rental in breathtaking Sicily. The home was more than we could have dreamed of, as it was filled with artifacts and decor reminiscent of the old Sicilian farmhouse it was originally, yet tastefully and comfortably equipped with all amenities travelers could ask for. It was cool in the evenings and the fans provided were more than enough to keep the rooms comfortable. My family absolutely fell in love with this home, and it's owner, Corrado! Upon arriving, Corrado met us, helped us feel welcome and at home, both within it's tranquil and beautiful grounds, and on the serene island of Sicilia itself! His recommendations, helpfulness, and genuinely warm nature, made LEAVING this wonderful place even more difficult! My children were so excited to see it, to spend the week, and were sad to leave. We felt good about the location of the property, as it was private, quiet, and yet also convenient to get to the autostrada for all of our day trips- Beautiful Taormina, Catania, Acireale, Siracusa , Noto, Avola...and more!!! Of course, as others have already written, the lemon trees, the outdoor features, barbecue, huge farmhouse table, seating, swimming pool and fantastic outdoor shower, were all outstanding features, however, it is really for the wonderful SPIRIT of this property and sincerity of it's owner, that I so highly recommend it. I only hope that I may return to Sicily and that I may stay in this home once again.....

Owner's reply: Grazie Nicole, sei stata molto gentile con la tua recensione. Ancora grazie di cuore. Un bacio a te e a tutta la tua bella famiglia. A presto, Corrado!

Owner's reply: Thank you very much for the review. I hope to see you soon. A kiss to everyone. Corrado

he farmhouse rural Elambeco where we stayed a week in July is a place that hardly scorderemo and where we hope with all my heart to return soon. It is a large country house clean and very spacious renovated with love and attention to every detail by the owner who was able to reassess corners and objects belonging to the rural past and make this one a unique place to spend quiet 'a vacation. Our comment goes beyond satisfaction as 'in addition to being a house with a' special atmosphere and charm, still boasts a strategic position to visit places of sea and culture very fascinating. Its owner and 'truly an exceptional person who knows how to welcome and advise its guests. Never stop to thank fact, for letting us see the lakes of Cassibile and some of the most beautiful beaches of Sicily, in the reserve of Gelsomineto and Vendicari. Finally I would like to emphasize the beauty of not only internal but also external area with oven equipped, with a terrace for eating and beam outside to watch the stars at night, but also of the orchard that surrounds it, hundreds of fragrant lemon trees. And remember, finally, that by entering into this estate, as well as the smells of mint, oregano and jasmine, already 'just the sight of an ancient olive tree is worth the trip. My kids really liked the presence of a small swimming pool and a hammock supported by two plants of grapefruit. Definitely recommend this place to friends and family and all those who know how to take care of things truly beautiful!
