Welcome to Villa Acquaviva - as featured on BBC TV's 'Escape to the Continent' - and a unique type of Italy villa rental holiday. Just for couples in the unspoiled region of Abruzzo.
Acquaviva is one of our three tranquil villas for two, (which we run here under the name 'Villasfor2'), set in olive groves on a south-facing acre of unspoiled countryside, with what a guest has called 'the best views in Abruzzo'.
We've created our villas from a 19th century barn, ensuring that each has exactly the same layout and amenities - and wonderful views - so none is 'better' than the others. Inside each villa, it's light, cool and airy, with individually-controlled air-conditioning; central heating; and free wireless internet access.
Right outside your door, there's your own private space on the big sun terrace, with a wooden table, a cheery red sun umbrella and a couple of wooden chairs. Perfect for breakfast; al fresco dining; or a nightcap under the stars.
Just for our guests, there's a sparkling salt-water swimming pool, bordered by olive trees, with another sun terrace. And with never more than six people here at any time, there's always plenty of space to spread out and relax, with enough comfy sunbeds and umbrellas for everyone.
We're rural - but not remote. You'll need a car and within a few minutes' drive, you'll find all our local shops, bars and restaurants. On your arrival, we'll drive you round in our car on a quick familiarisation tour to show you where everything is.
Subject to the weather, our pool's open from early May until late September and, like each of our villas, Acquaviva is specifically designed for two people only. It has no extra sleeping facilities.
We also have a blanket no-smoking policy across our property - inside and outside. As far as 'house rules' are concerned, that's about it !

The Abruzzo region
We're in Abruzzo. Where's Abruzzo ? Head due east from Rome and when you hit the Adriatic coast - you've arrived !
The region has a higher proportion of protected countryside than any other region of Europe, earning it the title of 'Italy's Green Heart.' Within its boundaries are three National Parks, all offering pristine forests and mountains, with truly spectacular scenery and crossed by well-signposted trails along which you can just go for a stroll - or a serious hike.
Or if you prefer to be beside the sea, within half-an-hour are the superb, sandy, Blue Flag beaches of the Adriatic.
On your arrival, stand in the carpark and take a look to the left. There's the Adriatic Sea, an easy half-hour's drive away. Now look to the right and take in the mountains of the Majella National Park. And in-between are far reaching views across miles of unspoiled countryside, dotted with vineyards and olive groves.
The weather's pretty good too ! Spring comes early and summer lasts until late September, with peak heat in July. Autumn is mild and though we get some snow in winter, it very rarely drops below freezing.
Our area ? Well now...
How do you fancy a delicious 2-course, freshly-cooked meal, with wine, water and coffee all for €10 each ? You'll get that at one of our local restaurants.
Or the best pizza you've ever eaten, from a traditional wood-fired oven ? That's nearby too.
Seafood restaurants and Michelin-starred fine dining ? All ready and waiting.
(And let's not forget Abruzzo's wonderful wines either !)
Roman ruins ? Haunted castles ? They've been here for more than a thousand years.
Designer label shops ? Shopping malls ? Traditional handicrafts ? Markets ? Take your pick.
Open-air fairs, feasts, festivals and fireworks throughout the year ? We know all the best ones
Beautiful unspoiled surroundings ? Quiet roads ? Friendly people ? Sightseeing ? Absolutely !
Late-night clubs and discos ? Well…no, not really. (But our neighbour Antonio might serenade you when he's tending his fields !)
