The two apartments for 4-6 persons are located on the first floor of the country house 'Il Vecchio Ippocastano' (total of 5 holiday self catering apartments, the other 3 are for max 2/3 persons and are promoted in another webpage).
The whole 16th century building has been renovated many times, last in 2010 and the project was designed by the holistic architect Brunella Franceschini who is also the property's owner, in the past it used to be her ancestor's summer holiday villa and they used to come from Spoleto by carriages to enjoy the mountain fresh air (we are at about 900 mts of altitude)...
With much attention and love the apartments have been created with particular attention on comfort and harmony using natural materials like local limestone and chestnut wood. The furniture is entirely made with natural wood and it's also integrated with ancient family furnishings. The atmosphere is warm and cozy.
The apartments include a large bedroom with a chestnut wooden loft and two beds, a big bathroom (shower) with window, a living room with stone fireplace and another loft with two further beds, a fully equipped cooking corner.
Few steps away you could enjoy genuine biological food at the Restaurant il Vecchio Ippocastano. A two min walking distance there is the local bazar with fresh daily food products.
You need a car while staying at the property to discover the nearby historic towns of Cascia, Norcia and Spoleto or to get to the National Park of Sibillini Mountains.
The property boasts a brand new 5X10 mt pool with salt water. There is a big pergola area just outside the big breakfast room where you can eat "al fresco" and use the property's barbecue . There is wi-fi internet included in the rate in garden and reception area. Small pets are allowed, check with us!
If you like sports you could enjoy trekking, nordic walking, rafting on Nera River, mountain bike, horse riding all within a short driving distance from the countryhouse.

Umbria, the green heart of Italy! It is a small Region in the central Italy, rich in history and culture but above all...nature!
Green rolling hills, sunflowers fields, olive trees, medieval towns, cultural events, delicious genuine food and wine..all of these and much more is a vacation in Umbria, Italy.
Strategically located between Rome and Florence, Umbria can be chosen as an ideal base to spend a holiday discovering the central part of Italy. Choosing to stay in Valnerina, in the South East part of Umbria means living a relaxing vacation in the unspoiled nature, discovering old enchanting towns, mystic sites, or dedicating time for outdoor sport activities such as rafting on the Nera River, Trekking on Sibillini Mountain National Park, cycling, horse riding or simply dedicating time for yourself in a tranquil and quiet corner of the world.
It is an area famous for the "black diamond" (the truffles).
The village of Avendita lies on a beautiful plateau, 875 Meters a.s.l. The small village (only 100 inhabitants) is especially convenient for people who want to enjoy a relaxing and healthy holiday, breathing the fresh and clear air of the mountains. The village has very old origins, most likely dating back to Roman times, as many archaeological finds testify.
In the small town centre, on a cosy square, you'll find the church St. Procolo, the old parish church. Inside the church you can see a precious 16th century organ, a rare example of this Renaissance masterpieces in Umbria.

"Gorgeous housing in the mountains"
The apartment was simply gorgeous and the service wonderful. If you are going for mountain fresh air, hiking and visiting a few towns around, this is an ideal location. However, if you want to visit Umbria, this is not an ideal location as it is 1 hour from Spoleto, and there are only a few small towns around to visit such as Cascia and Norcia. I found the road going up the mountain pretty scary at first - you get use to it. In terms of food shopping, there is a small store in town, however, I would recommend going to Carrefour in Cascia which is pretty close. This type of information should have been provided at the residence but was not. I would also recommend bringing a GPS and a map when driving in Italy, it will save you a lot of time.
