The villa was an ancient historical structure going back to before the year 1200, originally the chapel "Santa Maria Church", near the burg of Casaglia. Over the centuries, the chapel was deconsecrated to become, first a watchtower, and then a place where the farmers of the surrounding countryside would hold their rural festivals and where they also kept their farming implements.
The owners have personally restored the villa, preserving the original stones, which were then used in the reconstruction; old and similar materials were used to replace what was missing. The villa, to be let for exclusive use, is surrounded by cypresses that provide shade and is especially suited for relaxation and open-air lunches and dinners in full privacy and peace. The owners personally look after the cleaning and maintenance of the pool as well as the upkeep and care of the garden.
Personalised assistance to the clients: the owners/managers, who live nearby, manage all services personally, from welcoming the guests on arrival to assisting them throughout their stay in all their needs, to the upkeep of the pool and garden, to cleaning the premises; they may also offer the following extra services on request and not included in the rent of the villa: Extra cleaning, either daily or within the week, additional linen changes, shopping service, service chef at home (all food/groceries/provisions for the meals is extra).

The Tuscany region
Tuscany is a region of central Italy, is crossed by the Apennines, and is characterized by a picturesque landscape of hills, fields, castles and medieval villages. Tuscany also has a coastline with long sandy beaches, overlooked by a reputed like Viareggio.
Tuscany is a splendid example of symbiosis between art, culture, history as well as the beauty of its landscapes.Contains treasures of every age and style, from the Etruscan theatre and Roman baths at Fiesole, to the majestic Gothic buildings in the medieval town of Siena, to the exceptional art and architecture of Florence.
Cities such as Florence, Siena, Lucca, Pisa near towns such as Pienza, Cortona,Montalcino,Certaldo, San Gimignano and Volterra, have the ability to attract many tourists every year. To these were joined by the famous spas of Chianciano Terme, Montecatini Terme, Rapolano Terme, Bagno Vignoni and Bagni di Lucca.
In Tuscany there is a great wine production, there are produced many wines with denomination of origin including the famous Brunello di Montalcino, Chianti, Nobile di Montepulciano,Morellino di Scansano and Brunello di Montalcino)
In the heart of Tuscany, atop one of the hills that dominates the Elsa Valley, stands San Gimignano, selected by UNESCO as a world heritage site; it is an ancient medieval town, heir to rich history and culture, which has preserved its historical roots, as well as its art masterpieces.
You should visit the cathedral, containing frescoes by Benozzo Gozzoli and Ghirlandaio, and the Museo Civico with its collection of apothecary jars from the Spezieria di Santa Fina.
Besides its famous Vernaccia wine, San Gimignano's many shops offer the products of typical Tuscan artisans, marked by the skill and tradition handed down from father to son, from boar sausages to cheeses, from terracotta to hand-made pottery.
The town retains, almost undamaged, the architectonic features of the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries. Originally there were 72 towers, but their number had fallen to 25 by the end of the 16th century. Today only 13 remain intact, 7 of which are set around the main square, Piazza della Cisterna.
