Location description from owner

The Algarve region

The Algarve has a Mediterranean climate with hot dry sunny summers and warm mild winters. Spring and autumn are also sunny with cooler evenings. It enjoys over 300 sunshine days a year. In the winter the days are sunny and cooler. One of the delights of the Algarve and the immediate coast at Benagil is that the sea breeze is refreshing in the hot summer. The weather is rarely grey, if there is a shower then it passes quickly and the sun soon emerges again. The light is superb, reflecting off the sea, cliffs and beaches, it is uplifting at all times of the year. The house, as well as having superb sea and natural parkland views, also has wonderful dizzying sunsets.

The Algarve offers a wide range of entertainment and activities with something to suit everyone. From Casa Atlantico it is possible to walk along the Coastal path west to Praia de Rocha or East to Armacao de Pera. You will see spectacular cliffs and golden beaches, watch the fishing and yachting vessels, see the birds circling, smell the perfumed Mediterranean vegetation and visit the old churches like Senora da Rocha, and other landmarks along the way. Some beaches are unique as they are accessible only from the sea; others such as the unspoilt beaches of Praia de Marinha, Praia de Barraquinho and Praia da Albandeira can be approached by almost hidden pathways and are never very crowded. As well as walking there are opportunities for fishing, golf, scuba diving, parasurfing, sailing, horse-riding and photography.

Further inland the villages of Porches, Pera, and Ferragudo maintain their old world charm with local crafts such as pottery and ceramics being widely available. The fascinating Moorish castle at Silves and markets at Lagoa and Carvoiera are also worth a visit a sit the mountain area on Monchique with its spas and copper crafts. Larger settlements like Vilamoura, Faro, Armacao, Portimao and Lagos are no more than 30 minutes away with their bustling old quarters, markets, lively squares and restaurants and cafes. There is much of historic interest to explore. For those seeking even further adventure, Lisbon and Seville are no more that two and a half hours way by motorway and there are many organised one, two or three day visits to these place as well as to Morocco. There is information in the villa about such trips.

Carvoeiro

Carvoiero and Benagil have fishing festivals as one of their longstanding fishing traditions. Further inland the villages of Porches, Pera, and Ferragudo maintain their old world charm with local crafts such as pottery and ceramics being widely available. “Peace and quiet away from the hotspots”

Reviewed 31 Oct 2012

This area is an ideal spot for those who want to enjoy the unspoilt beauty of the Algarve coast without the crowds and commercialisation of the major resorts. The house itself is beautifully positioned and exceptionally well appointed within easy reach of two charming beaches and spectacular clifftop walks. Restaurants are in close proximity with the options of access via the steps to the bay or by car.

Delighted that you were pleased and enjoyed your holiday.

“Fantastic location!”

Reviewed 6 May 2012

We had a fantastic time staying at Casa Atlantico. When the weather was warm and sunny we spent hours on the beach just steps from the house and ate on the roof with amazing views of the ocean. When the weather was less than perfect, we ventured further afield to find some fun but clearly the reason people come here is for the beaches. Overall, the house had more than everything my boyfriend and I needed and in fact it even felt too big for just the two of us! One thing we found odd- there was absolutely no handsoap in the unit (even though there were dispensers in every bathroom). Not a big deal but just one more item we had to purchase. Overall a great stay and would definitely recommend anyone to stay here!

It's good to know you had a really lovely time. Any query that our guests have can be dealt with immediately by our manager who is on the spot constantly- and can deal with your question immediately. It's a pity you didn't mention the need for liquid soap to him...he would have sorted it for you. That's the great thing about having full management linked to the rental!

“Just perfect for a golfing family!!”

Reviewed 3 Apr 2012

We had a great time in Casa Atlantico a rather chilly week in Feb/March. The house is beautifully situated on the rocks between two fabulous beaches, and has amazing views from the bedrooms upstairs and from the lovely roof terrace, where you can sit and enjoy the sunset. What we especially liked was the location next to the little genuine fishing village in this unspoilt area, with rather few houses of the same kind. The house in itself was beautifully decorated, fresh and very comfortable with its two big bedrooms, three bathrooms and a fully equipped kitchen. It was also very nice to sit outside in the littele garden. We travelled with our two sons (24 and 22) and we played golf every day and we must say that this location is perfect if you want to play golf, because there are so many excellent courses in the area. We hope that we will be able to go back one day.

Marvellous to know you enjoyed everything the location had to offer for golf. You are welcome to return.

“Paradise in Portugal”

Reviewed 12 Mar 2012

This two bedroomed house is situated in a lovely, quiet and unspoiled part of the Algarve with beautiful views of the sparkling tourqouise sea especially from the bedrooms (one with bathroom en suite,) one with a balcony (shower room opposite) and from the roof terrace. The beacon of the lamp from the lighthouse on a far headland mingles romantically with the magnificent sunsets from the roof terrace. The house is spacious, furnished and decorated with style and flair. The kitchen is very well equipped and there is provided a range of holiday fun equipment. As the house is in a quiet location it is useful to have a car to explore all the beautiful beaches and attractions of the Algarve and South West Spain but if your idea of a relaxing holiday is to ditch the car and walk, there are two beautiful beaches within easy walking distance. If you wish to explore further afield there are lovely cliff paths to walk which are accessible literally from the front gate. There is available a shared swimming pool in which to have a relaxing swim and cool off after walking the cliffs. Two large supermarkets are within 5km of the house and there are good restaurants and bars again within walking distance. In addition to the en suite bathroom and second shower room upstairs there is a further shower room downstairs and a very pleasant patio for sitting out in the garden. The house is very well maintained and the bed was one of the most comfortable we've slept in and we've slept in a few!! The weather during our stay in late September early October was perfect. Visit Casa Atlantico in Benagil any time of year. You'll be glad you did.

Your detailed response is most appreciated and should be of a great help for everyone considering Casa Atlantico.
