Bridgelands Cottage is a charming, luxury 18th Century cottage that is furnished and equipped to a very high standard with a roaring log fire and free Wi-Fi that extends throughout the cottage and into the garden too.

Please note we only rent out our cottages for the following options:-

Full week from a Monday or Friday

3 night weekend of Friday to Monday

4 night mid-week break of Monday to Friday

The only exceptions to this are Christmas, New Year's Eve.

This lovely cottage is a real favourite with many of our regular guests and is situated in a quiet off-road location at the top of a cobbled lane, close to the heart of the unspoilt South Lakeland village of Cark-in-Cartmel yet only a minute´s stroll to the village pub.

The stable style front door of the cottage opens up into the wonderful large kitchen and dining area with 2 long breakfast bars, a dining table and chairs. This lovely room is further highlighted by 2 lovely window seats overlooking gardens. The fully equipped kitchen has a built-in oven, gas hob, separate fridge & freezer, automatic washing machine, dishwasher, microwave and all the kitchen utensils and equipment you could possibly want to make your stay a very comfortable one.

The cosy sitting room has 2 high-quality leather 3 seater sofas set around the roaring log fire. The French doors look out into the private, enclosed, secluded and south-facing garden. The lounge has a lovely stone fireplace, lots of antiques, a 50" Samsung 'Smart TV', 'Pure' CD player and DAB radio with Bluetooth connection.

There's plenty of books too! During the day the sitting room gets lots of sun and at night time it's a lovely cosy room to relax in front of the roaring log fire.

The Samsung 'Smart TV' has access to Netflix*, Prime* (*subscription needed if you don't have one), YouTube, Skype, Love Film*, all the 'on demand' channels including the BBC's 'iPlayer' in full HD and lots more.

The cottage sleeps 5 plus 1 infant.

All our beds and mattresses are Sealy Posturepedic beds, handmade in Cumbria.

On the 1st floor you will find the single bedroom and the newly decorated and refurbished twin/super-king bedroom. This bedroom has a brand new Sealy 'zip and link' bed that can be made up as a super-king or 2 singles. Please be sure to let us know your preference.

Both of these 1st floor bedrooms are quietly located overlooking gardens. The recently refurbished, modern bathroom has a bath, powerful shower, wash basin and toilet.

The newly refurbished & decorated light and airy double bedroom is located on the 3rd floor with a galleried entrance, oak beams, plenty of storage space, a wonderful, luxurious leather, king-size sleigh bed and a Bose Wave CD/Radio. Luxury Egyptian cotton bed linen and soft fluffy white towels provided free of charge. There's also a TV in this bedroom.

A full-size travel cot and high chair are also provided, free of charge.

Full (mains) gas central heating is at your control for whenever you want to use it and there is a combi-boiler for instant hot water. Heating, gas, and electric are all included in the price.

Bridgelands Cottage has a lovely south facing, private & secluded, enclosed garden with BBQ and garden furniture including table and chairs.

Outside the garden gate there are 2 private, off-road parking spaces.

Our cottage is provided with lots of information on the local area, the Lake District and Cumbria with several books, folders and leaflets containing plenty of walks and our own personal recommendations for places to visit. We also send all of our guests a detailed list of our favourite pubs, restaurants and places to buy great local food giving you some wonderful inside knowledge and a valuable head start.

Cark-in-Cartmel is located in the beautiful Cartmel valley with its lush green fields, quiet leafy lanes, and gentle rolling hills.

The cobbled streets and 12th century priory village of Cartmel lies just 1½ miles to the north and Lake Windermere is a 10 minute drive. Please visit our location page for details on the area.


We pride ourselves in offering 1 of the best dog friendly holiday cottages in the Lake District.

Dogs are welcome for a small charge of £20 for 1 dog, £30 for 2 dogs. Please ensure you notify us if you want to bring a dog before you book.

Non-pet owners can rest assured that we spend this extra money on additional cleaning so that non-pet owners would have no idea a dog has stayed at Bridgelands Cottage.

Both pubs in the village are dog friendly as are all 4 pubs in nearby Cartmel too.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How do I pay the balance of my holiday?

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send SIMON (the owner) a message.

If SIMON (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
