Description

"Burleigh House 36 Middle Road" -- Steeped in over 200 years of history this georgian country mansion commands stunning views over Belfast Lough and the surrounding countryside, it sits quietly 300m up a private lane in over 5 acres of grounds, yet is within reasonable walking distance of shops and the ancient town of Carrickfergus with its Norman Castle, marina and restaurants.

The modern self catering apartment at 36a Middle Road boasts two bedrooms, 1 large double and a smaller single with bunk beds, an additional baby/toddler bed can be provided for the main bedroom by request.

There is a 49 inch T.V., Free Wifi and a fully equipped kitchen with all required appliances including a washing machine and microwave oven. There is an external barbeque and seating area and you are very welcome to roam the grounds and feed molly and her pals our pet sheep and goats, there is a large wildlife pond and barn swallows and bats frequent the grounds in summer.

Pets are welcome by arrangement and can be exercised in the grounds, we have 3 dogs and a large cat who are part of the family so understand having them looked after while you are away can be difficult.

There are no additional charges for pets but please bring all food and bedding for them with you.

Carrickfergus is great base to explore Belfast only 20 minutes drive away or the world renowned coastal route through the Glens of Antrim to the Giants Causeway, but dont miss a trip to the Gobbins sea path in Islandmagee for a new experience or take advantange of the spectacular local golf courses or a brisk walk around the Woodburn Reservoirs only a few minutes drive away.

There is free parking which can accommodate large vehicles if required.

Please Check out by 11am and check in from 3pm, keys can be collected from the external keysafe by arrangement if you are expecting to arrive late.

Getting around

There are local buses, a bus stop is a short distance away from the bottom of the laneway, There are two railway stations Clipperstown and Carrickfergus within a mile or two. There are numerous local taxi companies which are very reasonably priced, free parking is provided and the airports have excellent car rental facilities, would recommend car hire and a trip down the coast road towards Larne and Glenarm .... beautiful scenery on your doorstep, the gobbins coastal path is a new attraction and around 15 minutes drive away. Woodburn Reservoirs are a few minutes away and are a great location for a relaxing walk.

Interaction with guest

Keys can be collected from the Key Safe next to the property a code will be provided. We will be available for any issues but prefer to take a hands off approach to guests and allow them the space to enjoy the surroundings without interference. Can certainly provide advise on things to do and places to eat etc.
