Peggys' Cottage offers very comtortable self-catering accommodation for 6 visitors.The kitchen is modern and convenient. The bathroom contains shower/bath, wash-hand basin and toilet. There are 3 bedrooms, one with luxury super-king bed, one with luxury double and one with bunk beds. The lounge area features dining table with 6 chairs, settee, two 'fireside' chairs and satellite television, DVD and CD player. The cottage has oil-fired central heating and a large wood-burning stove.
The 'loom room', so-called because generations ago it housed the loom on which the family wove 'pelts' of tweed to be sold to the world-famous Magees of Donegal. It now houses fuel for the wood-burning stove, a washing machine, tumble-dryer and fridge-freezer.
Peggys' Cottage offers a relaxing and attractive base from which to explore the unique environment of the Donegal highlands- and further afield. There are several beaches within fifteen minutes of the cottage. Endless opportunites for game and sea angling, water sports( including surfing, kayaking, diving and sight-seeing boat tours.) Basking sharks, dolphins and whales are regular summer visitors to the Slieve League coastline.
Hill-walking can begin as soon as you leave the cottage and walk up the mountain behind you. You can traverse Slieve League via the famous 'Pilgrims' Path', which crosses the boundary of the cottage land, and follow it all the way to Glencolmcille!
Peggys Cottage is also perfect for anyone who just wants to 'step off the world' for a while!

There are 2 patio areas; one at the front of the property and an elevated patio to the rear both over looking Teelin bay and the Glen river and both featuring picnic tables with benches.The 'loom room', at the side of the cottage, houses a barbecue. There is car parking for three vehicles.
The Glen river at the foot of the mountain offers outstanding salmon and seatrout angling for which permits can be obtained locally .Sea angling is exceptional both from rocks and Teelin pier.

The county of Donegal is rich in breathtaking landscapes and seascapes with colours that change their spectrum according to the light.
It is rich in musical, literary and artistic tradition and the visitor will find that the pace of life, and the people of Donegal, will contribute to the feeling that you have 'stepped off the world" for a while - however brief your stay!
Donegal provides a glorious backdrop to sporting, cultural and historical activities but, also, it is the perfect place to walk, read and forget about the world!
Peggys' Cottage is approximately two Km from Carrick village and around four Km from Teelin Pier. The area is best known as the home of the awe-inspiring 598m high Slieve League cliffs (two and a half times times the height of the better known Cliffs of Moher in Co. Clare!) There are several beaches within a fifteen minute drive of the cottage, one excellent for surfing.
There is a strong fishing history throughout the area and the river Glen is famous for salmon and sea trout.; fishing tends to be very successful both from the rocks and Teelin Pier. Charter boats are also available to hire, as are sight-seeing boats. Diving, kayaking, rowing are activites tradtional to the area and the area is perfect for hill walking and hiking.
Carrick ,Teelin and Kilcar share a number of archaeological, hisorical and heritage sites, the area is also the home of many legendary fiddlers in the Donegal tradition and the best of traditional Irish music can be heard throughout the year in the local pubs. Kilcar and Carrick are also famous for local crafts and handweaving. Ti-Linn is a beautiful craft/gift and coffee shop close to the cottage on the road to the cliffs you will be made very welcome as you enjoy the cultural and historical information and the wonderful crafts on display.
The clock Tower is an award-winning restaurant around thirty minutes from the cottage; the food is wonderful and it is very family-friendly. The world famous Kitty Kellys' restaurant, around fifteen minutes from the cottage promises "a unique Donegal experience" including an after dinner sing-along each weekend!

"A peaceful time in a beautiful area"
We had a very peaceful time in the cottage so confortable and welcoming. We really enjoyed our holidays here and our four kids tasted and enjoyed the boards of bodysurf. The beaches around are wonderdul. Just come and see by yourself !
