Description from manager

Description

Located in the Connemara Gaeltacht village of Carraroe in County Galway, Carraroe Holiday Village is the perfect location for touring Connemara, Galway and the Aran Islands. There are 10 traditional three star cottages and three four star houses. The holiday village is set amongst the stunning beauty of Connemara's landscape.

The four star lodges are beautifully designed and decorated, of modern construction and feature oil fired central heating and an open fireplace. The lodges have 4 bedrooms which include: ( Upstairs) 1 king bedroom en suite, 2 double bedrooms   and 1 bathroom with bath and shower WC and washbasin. (Downstairs) 1 double bed room and a downstairs bathroom with shower cubicle WC and washbasin. Kitchen/dining/sitting room open plan.

The three star cottages are also of modern construction and feature an attractive open plan loft style twin bedroom, an enclosed double bedroom, and a bathroom with a toilet and sink upstairs.  There is a single bedroom downstairs and a bathroom with shower, toilet and sink.

Connemara itself is irresistible, its towering mountains, rivers and lakes and wonderful sea views. The scent of peat fires and the soft sound of Irish, for this is the Gaeltacht where Irish is the first spoken language. These are just some of the elements that combine to make this unique part of Ireland.

Activities nearby include golf, tennis, hill walking, sailing and fishing. The Connemara area offers something for everyone, all set in a beautiful landscape.

Things to do:

Beaches

The coast of Connemara has many beautiful beaches. The most famous of these is the coral strand in Carraroe, otherwise known as Trá an Doilín. This is a mere two-mile walk from the center of the village and should not be missed. For those who prefer soft sandy beaches many can be found in Carraroe and the surrounding area.

The Aran Islands

A trip to Connemara would not be complete without a trip to one of the three Aran Islands. There are two means of transport to the islands, by ferry from the port in Rossaveal, only five miles from Carraroe Village, or by plane (which only takes eight minutes), from the airport in Inverin.

The Gorumna Islands

Much more accessible than the Aran Islands one can travel to these by car as they are connected to the main land via a series of bridges. The islands are beautiful, particularly in the summer when the weather is fine.

Fishing

There are an abundance of fishing opportunities in the West of Ireland with the countryside crisscrossed by streams, rivers and lakes. There are fishing clubs, schools and guides available in the area with licenses for Coarse and Game fishing starting from as little as €12.00 and absolutely free should you decide to fish off the rugged Atlantic Coastline.

Galway City

Galway is a charming city with winding cobbled streets and a wealth of history. Small enough to explore in one day, it is a fascinating mixture of old and new. With its many shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants it is a real treat for food lovers. Not to be missed is the market, held every Saturday from early in the morning; here one can buy crepes, bagels, sushi and curry as well as various handcrafted mirrors, jewelry, and paintings. Get there early to make the most of this popular market as some goods often sell out early on in the day.

Cinemas

There are two multi screen cinemas in Galway, including the newly built Eye cinema, which brings a whole new level of comfort to your cinema experience. The second is the Omni-plex, located just a few minutes walk from the city center, this is conveniently located, right beside Mc Donalds and across the road from both the Galway Shopping Center and the bowling alley.
