They also have access to the fully equipped contemporary kitchen - which the owners also use. If you would like a rest from cooking, Tyddyn Retreat are happy to arrange catering for you!

Tyddyn Retreat is 30 mins from Snowdonia and 45 mins from the stunning coastline at Aberdovey. On our doorstep or within 30 to 40 mins you will find:

• Historic Powis Castle & gardens

• Magical Cadair Idris mountain

• Beautiful Lake Vrynwy

• Machylleth the ancient capital of Wales – with it’s great Wednesday market

• Hafren Forest – source of the Severn & Wye rivers

• Llyn Clywedog Reservoir with sailing & fishing

• Numerous places associated with stories of King Arthur

• Outdoor activities such as walking & cycling, mountain biking, bird watching, fishing, sailing, rally driving, off-roading, horse riding, canoeing, paragliding, caving, climbing

Tyddyn Retreat as a whole venue, provides working & accommodation space for meetings, trainings, small conferences, leadership retreats, awaydays, business development conversations, family & group gatherings – whatever our guests can imagine.

Holiday guests can enjoy their own private cinema in the workshop space while staying in the cottages. Everyone can make the most of our magical land & multitude of outdoor seating options. At night the dark and starry skies are spectacular.

The workshop space caters for 60 people ‘theatre' or 'cabaret' style and 90 for parties or similar gatherings. The total accommodation sleeps up to 25 people (+ the tipi and camping).

Tyddyn Retreat is a private and secluded hideaway that is also easily accessible – Caersws station 15 mins, and directly off the A470 ‘backbone' of Wales.

As an eco venue, Tyddyn Retreat encourage guests to travel by train and other public transport where possible, providing a collection service from Caersws (15 mins), and running a range of tours up to Snowdonia, down to the Brecon Beacons & everywhere in between - making the most of the landscapes, history and fantastic activities that Mid Wales offers.

We are proud of our Silver Award from the Green Tourism Business Scheme, and are active members of Green Holidays in Wales, The Dyfi Biosphere Tourism Association and the Cambrian Mountains Tourism Network, each working hard to promote sustainability.

At Tyddyn Retreat we do our best to think of all that our guests will and might need. We regularly imagine staying in the accommodation (and sometimes do!), & spend time in the workshop space, to see and feel what else might make the experience even better. “You’ve thought of everything” is commonly said. We genuinely welcome new ideas from our guests.

Please watch out for the range of Tyddyn Retreat packages – including accommodation, tours and films in the workshop cinema. Here are some of the themes:

• landscape, wilderness and nature

• history, culture & sites of special interest

• action adventures

• Little Trains of Wales travels & memories.

Tyddyn Retreat has a feast of maps and books about the area and will introduce you to all manner of fabulous local food and eating places, plus opportunities to buy take-home treats and crafts made in Wales. You might even enjoy fun ways to learn some words of Welsh!
