The County Antrim region

Between Carnlough and Glenarm, the Straidkilly Nature Reserve, managed by the Ulster Wildlife Trust, has been designated as an Area of Specific Scientific Interest, covering 8.5ha is part of the largest areas of semi-natural woodland in County Antrim, occupying a north-east facing basalt escarpment and is a haven for birds, butterflies and wild flowers.

Ballymena 12 miles away, referred to as the ‘City of the Seven Towers’ has long been as an administrative, marketing and business centre with flourishing industries. It has all the appearance of a modern town (it became a borough in 1937) yet it is quite an ancient place with a lengthy history. But what really defines the North is the unspoiled countryside.

With glistening lakes, tranquil rivers, authentic rural life, scenic pastureland, rolling hills and forest parks, this area is a haven for outdoors enthusiasts with cycling, watersports, walking, angling, golfing, horseriding and cruising all in plentiful supply.
